Taut, with red cherry fruit and herb notes, framed by dusty tannins that turn slightly firm in the end. Drink now.

This wine hails from Lirac, which is near the famous (and famously expensive) Châteauneuf-du-Pape region. Consisting of a blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Cinsault, Carignan, and Syrah, this wine offers ripe flavors of raspberry and blackberry to go along with hints of cedar. A solid core of tannins gives it plenty of backbone to support the 15% alcohol, while the acidity keeps it refined and elegant. This wine rivals its more famous neighbor in both structure and intensity, at a fraction of the cost.
