87 pts. Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate: April, 2007
La Spinetta’s 2004 Langhe Nebbiolo is a new offering made from the youngest vines in the Starderi vineyard. It presents the characteristic Spinetta qualities — super-ripe fruit, plenty of sweet oak and a sleek personality — in miniature. This tasty offering will also be available at a more accessible price than the estate’s other wines. Anticipated maturity: 2007–2011.

A baby Barolo bargain! Giorgio Rivetti has been acclaimed by Robert Parker and others as a top Barolo producer; we rank him among the top three. This wine, produced from the Nebbiolo grape used in Barolo, shows the same structure as the best Barolos, with fresh berry and leather flavors. The concentrated fruit and fine tannins provide a lingering berry finish that is not to be missed. Open this wine an hour before serving and enjoy it with any hearty meat dish.

The villages of Barolo and Barbaresco, nestled in the Langhe hills of Piedmont, produce wines of complexity and power from the Nebbiolo grape. For this elegantly, structured wine, La Spinetta sources grapes from the entire Langhe district. Medium-bodied with fresh berry, leather, and mineral aromas. Concentrated fruit and fine tannins with a lingering berry snap on the finish.

Dense red. Complex, explosive bouquet of fruit, sweet spices, licorice and chocolate. The palate shows thick, concentrated dark berries and licorice, with an exceptional balance of sweet tannins and acidity. Ideal with grilled meats and wild game.
