Kevin McPartland: April 19, 2007
Most of the time when someone is looking for a Pinot Noir they tend to go to California or Burgundy; well, the Pike & Joyce 2002 will make them recognize Australia as a solid producer of the finicky grape. Candied wild cherry aromas along with an underlining spice evolve into strawberry preserves, sage, and rosemary. The wine is medium bodied with a smooth finish. Drink this wine with chicken, duck, or pork.

Medium red color. Vibrant aromas and flavors of dark cherries, stewed strawberries, spices, damp forest floor; displays the complexity that quality Pinot Noir should have. The palate is finely balanced, with plump ripe fruit, good acidity and fine tannins giving the wine some backbone. This really is very good Pinot and quite exceptional given the age of the vines. It should complement most game and some pork dishes. Drink over the next 3–5 years.
