The purple-colored 2008 Bonarda offers an enticing bouquet of smoke, mineral, and blueberry. Round and ripe on the palate, it has surprising depth and length for its humble price. Drink this succulent wine over the next three years.

A light, fresh style, with plum, violet and vanilla notes backed by a round, easy finish. Drink now.

Argentina may be famous for its rich, full-bodied Malbecs, but this red is living proof of the kind of versatility the country is capable of. Lighter in body, with low tannin and bright fruit, Bonarda is an easy-drinking wine, comparable to some of the best Spanish Garnachas or New World-style Pinot Noirs. Fresh cherry and red raspberry fruits dominate on the nose and palate, highlighted by floral accents and a smidge of spice. A really terrific wine for the summer, but drink it all year long paired with salmon or chicken dishes.
