One look at the name and label and it screams “new concept wine designed for exploding Malbec market,” which doesn’t mean it’s bad. The nose is rubbery and full of berry fruit, while the palate is high in acid and a touch sharp, leading to sweet-tart berry flavors in front of a simple finish. Good wine but highly regular.

The bouquet of mocha, chocolate and coffee beans is expressive and plentiful followed by dark cherry and plum flavors. The vanilla and toasty oak frames nicely around the back end leaving it long and rich. Works well with coq au vin, roasted half duck with herb spatzel and veal cannelloni with a mushroom ragout.

Medium-bodied, with dark cherry and currant notes, the Los Cowboys Malbec is lush and inviting. Perfect for heavier chicken dishes or mushroom-based vegetarian fare.
