Jeffrey Spain: April 10, 2010
A perfect summer red. This cuvée of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir and a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon is light and fresh, with aromas of cherries, earth and lavender. Medium-bodied, with fresh acidity and an initial sweet core that is well-supported by balanced tannins. Soft flavors of wild strawberries linger on the palate. This is a great everyday wine for sipping in the backyard — or take it on your next picnic.

This four-vinifera red blend is grown along Route 414 on Seneca Lake, hence the name. Light and crisp, yet dry, this garnet-colored, cherry-inflected red has a warm nose of crushed fruit and damp earth. It will complement a variety of grilled vegetables and meats.
