According to the label this is “100% red wine,” but there is no more explicit information available! I have a feeling, however, that this is mostly Malbec: it has the rich, deep black fruit and spice notes, lush mouthfeel and soft tannins that are hallmark to the grape. There’s probably some Cabernet and Merlot thrown in for good measure. There is a brightness with a fresh ripe cherry aroma, that makes us suspect there is also something lighter, like Grenache — or more likely, Bonarda — blended in with the heavier reds. Whatever the blend, the Ocaso Gran Reserva is one terrific bottle of red wine, excellent for braised meats or hearty stew dishes.

Delightful flavors of raspberry, plum, fresh roasted coffee and vanilla beans, with sweet toast and ripe tannins in the back end. This is a wine that will continue to evolve, yet you can pop the cork tonight and enjoy with a nice piece of red meat, or with tuna or veal shanks.
