Tempranillo is the backbone of wines made in the well-known Spanish regions of Rioja and Ribera del Duero. The Casabayo has a deep garnet color, with hints of dark berry and spice aromas. The wine is medium bodied, with flavors of blackberries and plums. It is soft in texture with just the right amount of tannins and acidity. The combination of the tart fruit and the tannins make this very food friendly. Serve it with chorizo sausage, black beans and yellow rice.

100% Tempranilo with aromas of tobacco and blueberry/blackberry fruit. Full-bodied, strong and sturdy with gobs of ripe fruit. Juicy and structured with a long, satisfying finish. A perfect match with filet mignon, beef stews, full-blown roasted turkey dinners and with a good hard cheese and fresh California figs at the end of the meal.

What did three of Spain’s most celebrated consulting winemakers do when hey discovered 300 year old clay amphora in the cellars of a recently acquired Tempranillo winery? They kept on using them, of course! In a bid to underscore the potential for value in Spanish reds, the three friends purchased this property in La Mancha expressly to produce Rioja-quality Tempranillo at a fraction of the price. Their humble wine is packed with spicy black fruit flavor, and has been singled out by wine critics as a “buy by the case” favorite.
