Smaller than Fronsac, the Canon-Fronsac appellation occupies higher and steeper terrain. The resulting wine is stronger and more substantial. This wine has a dark ruby color, with purplish hints that turn garnet with age. A concentrated nose has notes of raspberry, strawberry and red currants that develop with time into stewed prunes, leather and mocha.
