Also outstanding, the 2010 Flux includes 67% Grenache, 20% Carignan and 13% Syrah in the blend. Truly a Rhone Ranger cuvee, it is a sexy, lush, heady effort displaying peppery black currants and cherries intermixed with charcuterie, bouquet garni and meaty notes. Drink this delicious wine over the next 3–4 years as well.

Bright medium red. A touch of reduction to the aromas of red berry syrup, smoke, cardamom and black pepper. Sweet, deep and very ripe on the palate, with an almost porty quality to the fruit. But good acidity and substantial tongue-dusting tannins give good structural support to this blend. Ultimately a slightly brighter version of the 2009 but still in a distinctly southern style. If you plan on drinking this soon, it will benefit from a double decanting.

The Grenache-based 2010 Flux bursts from the glass with racy red berries, sweet spices and flowers. Juicy and exuberant, the 2010 isn’t a shy wine, but it is loaded with character. The French oak is maybe a bit dominant, but it is hard not to love the 2010 Flux for its sheer exuberance. The 2010 is a delicious wine to drink now and over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2012–2016.
