Toast and dried fruit notes mix in this very harmonious dry Champagne, which is full of flavor — dried apricot, candied orange peel, nut and smoke — but still elegant and lightweight. The rich, toasty note lingers on the vibrant finish. Drink now through 2020.

90 pts.: Dec 15, 2014

Svelte and well-knit, with a minerally underpinning of smoke and chalk notes, and hints of lemon meringue pie and glazed apricot riding the creamy mousse. Bright and lively. Drink now through 2019.

90 pts. : November 30, 2004

A toasty version, rich and creamy, with vanilla, hazelnut and citrus notes weaving through the rich texture. It’s on the soft side, yet with a lovely, mouthwatering finish. Drink now.

90 pts.: Web only – 2015

Flavors of poached pear, candied lemon zest and biscuit, with a rich hint of roasted almond, ride the lively bead of this crisp, minerally Champagne. Drink now through 2018. 15,000 cases imported.

90 pts. : January 31, 1998

A non-vintage champagne that is establishing a new benchmark in quality for the type, this sparkler has an extra dimension that makes it stand out from the pack. It offers pungent aromas that melt on the palate into opulent, creamy flavors that linger with richness on the finish. Quite a bargain for a French bubbly, too.

90 pts.: Nov 30, 2013

Though subtle, this is fresh and focused, with a fine mousse and tightly knit notes of white peach, blanched almond, smoke and grainy pear. Drink now through 2016.

90 pts. : November 15, 1997

A most distinctive Champagne with an extra dimension that makes it stand out from the pack. It offers pungent, earthy, toasty aromas that melt on the palate into opulent, creamy flavors that linger with richness on the finish. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

89 pts.: 12/31/2007

This must be one of the most familiar nonvintage Champagnes, so it’s good to be able to report that it is much improved. The dosage has been lowered, and there is considerable freshness, crispness with apple and toast. It is full-bodied but well balanced.

Mumm makes a mighty fine mid-priced bottle, with plenty of toasty flavor to lift it into an orbit close to where the big boys fly. The fruit is on the lighter side, but crisply defined, and it segues into the round, satisfying flavors of older, more mature Champagne. The bubbles are gentle and petite, and the flavors linger elegantly all around the tongue.

Mumm’s flagship Champagne is hugely improved. There is richness, flavors of white peaches and orange peel and just a touch of softness balanced by good structure. This is a fine wine that today holds it own with its competitors.

89 pts. : November 15, 2008

Smooth in texture, setting the stage for peach, grapefruit and honey flavors that are in harmony with the lively structure. Lingers on the finish. Drink now.

88 pts. : December 15, 1998

Generous fruit flavors and a rich texture give this bright, rather soft Champagne a forward personality. Smooth in texture, ripe in flavor and difficult to resist. Drink now.

88 pts.: Nov/Dec 2006

Light gold. Buttered apple and pear aromas, with hints of anise and brioche. Medium in weight, with a silky texture and sweet orchard fruit flavors framed by gentle acidity. Broad and rich on the finish, with a lingering note of sweet butter.

88 pts. : Nov/Dec 2000

Pure, delicate aromas of lime, mint and biscuits. Bright but round, with brisk flavors of apple, lemon, and minerals enlivened by fresh acidity. In a fairly dry, light style. Finishes with subtle fruitiness and very good persistence.

88 pts. : December 1, 2000

Toast and yeast in the otherwise lime-scented bouquet. Clean citrus and green-apple flavors lead into a zesty, smooth soda-like finish. Overall it’s just a nice, clean, bright Champagne, one that has the right level of dryness and zip.

88 pts. : November 15, 2005

Very aromatic, with floral and citrus flavors, a creamy texture and vibrant structure. Fine balance and personality here, with a lingering lemon note on the finish. Drink now.

87 pts. : November 30, 2009

Rich and open, with floral, apple and pear flavors and a touch of lemon for accent. Just fades a little on the finish. Drink now.

87 pts. : November 19, 2002

A delicate version. Aroma of toast leads to apple and citrus in this light-bodied, balanced Champagne. Drink now.

87 pts. : November 30, 2000

Explodes from the glass with toast, grilled nuts and butterscotch aromas and flavors. Soft texture, verging on creamy, diminishing quickly. Drink now.

86 pts. : November 15, 2003

Light-bodied and smooth, with moderate apple, lemon and dough flavors. Pleasant without a lot of personality. Drink now.

86 pts. : October 31, 2001

A delicate Champagne, very high-toned, showing red berry fruit, with a citrus and yeast accent. On the soft side, yet retains a firmness through the finish. Lovely aperitif. Drink now.

86 pts. : December 1, 2004

Slightly buttery, with toasted brioche aromas and flavors that seem a bit one-dimensional. Finishes with soft acidity and a hint of burnt toast.

: August 1, 1998

Has a lovely aroma of spice and citrus, with steely notes and a faint smokiness. the creamy, yet crisp citrus and spice flavors are steely, well-balances and flavorful — terrific.

Always a crown favorite, Cordon Rouge is a judiciously arrives at blend of 77 different crus and remains a staple NV Brut of class and bready/doughy distinction. I have admired it for two decades and look forward to doing so for two decades more.

: October 1, 2007

Concentrated dried fruits. Some vanilla finesse and finish.
