96–100 pts. Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate: February, 2005
The 2002 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) has an inky ruby/purple color and a gorgeously sweet nose of creme de cassis and cherries intermixed with some vanilla and spice. The wine is opulent, full-bodied, with an unctuous texture and blockbuster finish with no hard edges. It seems to be on a faster evolutionary track than the 2001, but who’s complaining? This is still a 15- to 18-year wine.

96+ pts. Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate: December, 2005
The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) reveals an inkier purple color along with a classic nose of graphite, creme de cassis, smoke, crushed rocks, and barrique. Surprisingly approachable, long, concentrated, and impressive with flawless integration of wood, tannin, and acidity, it can be enjoyed over the next 15+ years.

Good red-ruby. Roasted red currant, mocha, licorice, dark chocolate and menthol on the nose; clearly riper than the regular cabernet. Then big, chewy, broad and deep, with powerful flavors of currant, chocolate, mocha and tobacco, sweetened by oak. Finishes impressively long, with big, broad, horizontal tannins.

A rich, supple, seductive style, with layers of mocha, currant, wild berry, plum and cedar, it serves up a wealth of flavor and those who like their fruit ripe with ample oak will find this exhilarating. Drink now through 2011.
