The main reason for liking this rosé is the composition of the grapes used. You have the usual suspects — Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah — but some Clairette and Picpoul are thrown in this cuvée, giving it an interesting twist. The Picpoul at 12% adds lushness and viscosity I didn’t see in many rosés. At first whiff the typical rosé petal and lilacs, but when tasting, a scent of freshly ground white pepper emerges that intrigues. Its taste is redolent of spicy cherry, baked custard and bursts of cinnamon. There is enough acidity to brighten up the medium finish. Goat cheese over greens, with fresh strawberries and spiced pecans.
