Chardonnay

Chardonnay Wines

Top countries producing this wine:

Chardonnay is the most popular white wine in the world, and also one of the most diverse. Depending on the soil, climate and winemaking traditions of the region in which it is grown, its style can range from steely and crisp to creamy and toasty.

In the much-acclaimed Burgundy region of France, Chardonnay exhibits its most noble manifestation. Winemakers around the world try to emulate the prestigious bottling from appellations such as Montrachet, Corton Charlemagne, Meursault and Chablis, praised for their longevity and complex taste. Chardonnay is also indispensable to the superlative sparkling wines of Champagne. In fact, almost every major wine region from the Finger Lakes to New Zealand has embraced this stellar grape.

The characteristic flavors of Chardonnay include apples, pears, lemon and pineapple.  Medium-full in body, with zesty acidity and the potential for excellent balance of fruit, Chardonnay is a delightful food partner as well as a wine to sip on its own.

Argentina

Mountains set behind an Argentinian vineyard - Argentina Wines

Argentina is the fifth-largest wine-producing country by volume in the world. Viticulture first arrived there during the Spanish colonial era, with the first vineyard established in the 1550s. But until recently, almost all of the wine produced in Argentina was consumed within its borders.

In the early 1990s, a conscientious effort was made by Argentinian viticulturists to improve quality and increase exports. Now, Argentina is starting to establish itself as a serious player in the international wine market, with a reputation for selling high quality wines at consumer-friendly prices.

More than two-thirds of the wine produced in Argentina comes from the Mendoza region, situated in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. Here you'll find some of the world’s finest Malbecs, which has become Argentina's signature grape over the past 15–20 years. Other prominent growing regions include San Juan and La Rioja, which are located further north.
