Critical Acclaim

VN88 Vinous Jul 2018

"Bright medium ruby. Musky currant, blueberry, herbs and licorice on the nose. A juicy, fruit-driven wine with a touch of sweetness to its flavors of red and darker berries and spices. Finishes firm and persistent, with building tannins. This rather serious blend, made without any oak, has the structure to last for at least three or four years." (88 pts.)

RP90 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 29th Jun 2018

"Compared to the 2016, the 2017 Red Blend is a slightly different blend of 60% Malbec with 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Bonarda. It has grapes from different zones of Mendoza. It fermented mostly in stainless steel with shorter macerations. Twenty percent of the volume was kept with inner staves for six months. It feels very much like a cool-climate Cabernet, with lots of spicy and herbal aromas, serious and restrained. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and moderate acidity. It could be phenomenal with a little more freshness. Some 450,000 bottles were produced." (90 pts.)

JS91 Thursday, April 5, 2018

"Redcurrants, red berries and plenty of spices. Full body, round tannins, a generous mid-palate and a fruity finish. A blend of malbec, bonarda and tempranillo. Drink now." (91 pts.)

Argentina took the wine world spotlight in the late 20th century with its plush, smooth Malbec. While the popular red grape still reigns supreme, Argentine wineries are increasingly putting forth excellent examples of multiple varietals, all at the extraordinary bargains that make this region so accessible.

Now the fifth largest wine-producing nation in the world, Argentina enjoys high-altitude and low-humidity vineyard sites, comparatively unencumbered by insects and disease. Argentina’s unique terroir has captured the interest of such internationally celebrated winemakers as Paul Hobbs and Michel Rolland, both of whom have projects in the country.
