St. Patrick’s Day is over and you have left over corned beef to eat but the thought of more beer to drink with it isn’t that appealing. After all, you may have had plenty of beer in the last few days. In terms of leftovers, you opt for a corned beef sandwich with Swiss cheese and spicy mustard on rye. A glass of wine might do the trick, but which one?

In Italy, winemakers use the term Da Sole in reference to the place the wine comes from. Da Sole means “Where the Sun Rises” which is appropriately named for the area of brilliant sunshine of this classic area. Frankly, any wine with “sun” in the name right now will be very endearing to western New Yorkers who have had enough of this s_ _ _. ( snow, that is )

Joel Gott is one of the most successful and creative wine producers to come along in the last twenty years or so. Along with his wife, Sarah who previously was a winemaker at Joseph Phelps, Joel created a Zinfandel in Amador County that won them the praise of Robert Parker.
