This is a wonderful wine to welcome in the New Year. Although we have commented on the Baus Family Cabs before, this vintage is definitely one to celebrate. The 2012 Baus Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is absolutely a pleasure to drink.
Rich with black cherry, black currant and some blueberry on the nose, this is a very enticing wine. Of course, tasting it is even more gratifying. Dark plum and vanilla oak and allspice notes complement the other fruit in this beauty of a wine. This a dark, full bodied classic cabernet with balanced tannins and a smooth, satisfying finish. In terms of pairing, this wine is very versatile, however I must admit this Cab is also very easy to drink on its own. Try it with Sheppard’s Pie with plenty of succulent lamb, gravy and pearl onions.
