Last weekend I recommended the Rubus Cabernet Sauvignon to pair with filet mignon, hot dogs or hamburgers for your July 4th picnic. For those of you who want something cooler, yet still dry and easy to pair with many summer foods; I recommend the Chateau Lamothe 2013 Bordeaux Rose.

This Rose is a beautiful blend of 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon.  It is from the Bordeaux region and could be one of the best gifts we’ve had from the French since the Statue of Liberty. (OK, perhaps I exaggerate a bit).  But seriously, this is a great wine for summer sipping.  The color has a strawberry and slightly peach hue.  The tannins are soft and silky and acidity is present but not overwhelming. There are red berry, citrus, and floral notes followed by ripe strawberry on the palate with raspberry and a tart cherry finish.  This wine will pair with everything from Barbecued Pulled Pork to fresh watermelon and feta salad.  Try this with a large sirloin burger topped with crumbled bleu cheese, sliced red onion, and chipotle mayo.

Come in and sample this lovely Rose in our wine dispenser and pick up a bottle for $8.99 on sale.
