Easter is here, and possibly Spring. Normally I would mention a wide range of wines to go with your Easter dinner, but I am going to focus on one white that will be a crowd pleaser. I'm talking about the Dom L'Enclos Gros Manseng which I have written about before as a general favorite. This is one of those obscure French white wines that is a wonderful alternative to riesling which many have relied on for Easter dinner year after year. The wine is bright and floral, with apricot and honey notes.
This 2013 vintage will work beautifully with baked ham. There is subtle sweetness and some acidity to cut through the salt, fat, and smokiness of the ham. The pear, peach, and citrus flavors will also work very well with any honey or brown sugar glaze. This might even go well with jelly beans. Come on over to the store and try some Dom L'Enclos at our wine center today and tomorrow. It's not only Easter, it's Spring. Time to stock up on this lovely, warm weather white.
