Not only is it Barbeque season, but hot damn! We have the perfect wine. The Rib Shack Red   2013 Blend   from South Africa screams for sizzling meat on the grill, particularly with a sweet and smoky barbecue sauce.

The Rib Shack is a blend of 60% Pinotage and 40% Shiraz aged in oak and has a rich, dark berry color, and is medium body.  It has powerful notes of cherry, spice, tobacco and dark fruit.  It finishes with a pleasant smoke and chocolate essence.  These particular notes make it perfect for ribs of course, but this wine will certainly work well with any type of meat on the grill.  I had it with chicken thighs slathered with a smoky Barbecue sauce that had a good amount of molasses amped up with ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon.
