From a region famous for well made wines going back several decades, Keuka Springs Vineyards has been making great wines for thirty years. Under the direction of the Wiltberger family, Keuka Springs is producing outstanding from a wide variety of grapes. A couple of my favorites include a 90 point rated 2014 Riesling and a 92 point rated Cabernet Franc which won high praise from Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
The Riesling is off-dry with floral and stone fruit fragrance including candied Apricot and fresh Peach. These flavors continue on the palate along with apple and lime. Enjoy with a picnic lunch of cold chicken, assorted cheeses and sliced green apples.
The Cabernet Franc has Black Cherry, Raspberry and dark Plum fruit notes, underlined with Vanilla spice from the oak. Enjoy this with a Turkey Burger seasoned with Worcestershire sauce and black pepper and topped with Gorgonzola cheese.
This Summer is a great time to visit the beautiful shores of Keuka Lake to enjoy the quaint shops and restaurants in the town of Hammondsport. Head north to see Penn Yan another lovely spot on the lake and visit Keuka Springs.
Keuka Spring Vineyards is located at 243 Route 54 East Lake Road, Penn Yan, NY. Opened daily from April through November 10 – 5, Saturdays and Sundays only in February and March.
