Critical Acclaim

VN91+ Vinous Mar 2017

"Limpid ruby-red. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh red and dark berries, peppery spices and candied flowers, and a smoky mineral nuance adds vivacity. Sappy, sweet and open-knit, offering juicy raspberry and floral pastille flavors joined by hints of licorice and bitter chocolate that build slowly on the back half. Smooth and seamless in texture, showing very good finishing energy, gentle tannins and spicy persistence. This should turn out to be an outstanding “basic” Châteauneuf." (91–93 pts.)

SP94 Wine Spectator Oct 31, 2017

"Richly layered, with hedonistic fig, boysenberry and raspberry confiture flavors that roll over each other while mouthwatering anise, fruitcake and black tea notes chase from behind. Shows loads of heft but remains driven by fresh, deeply inlaid acidity that pulls everything together on the finish. A flashy style and impossible to resist. Best from 2020 through 2040. 392 cases imported." (94 pts.)

RP91+ Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 28th Oct 2016

"The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape is a great example of the polish and elegance of the estate. Strawberry jam, black raspberries, crushed herbs and pepper all emerge from this full-bodied, concentrated, yet seamless and lengthy beauty. Made from 81% Grenache and 19% Syrah, brought up in a mix of demi-muids, old barrels and concrete tanks, drink it over the coming decade or more. As with the whites, there’s numerous parcel selections done with the reds." (91–93 pts.)

France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.
