Critical Acclaim

VN92 Vinous Apr 2015

"Brilliant ruby-red. Highly perfumed aromas of fresh red berries, potpourri and Asian spices, with a smoky mineral note adding urgency. Sappy, sweet and seamless, offering intense raspberry and floral pastille flavors and a touch of star anise. Spreads out nicely on the gently tannic finish, which clings with excellent tenacity and repeating floral character. An outstanding effort for a "basic" Châteauneuf and extremely easy to drink right now, but there’s no hurry to do so." (92 pts.)

SP92 Wine Spectator Oct 31, 2014

"Fleshy plum, fig and blackberry compote flavors race along, enlivened with licorice snap and singed alder notes. Fruit-driven, with good energy and a piercing hint of graphite on the finish to stay honest. The inviting profile will win this some fans. Drink now through 2025. 390 cases imported." (92 pts.)

RP92 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 30th Oct 2014

"The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape (70% Grenache and 15% each of Syrah and Mourvedre) is beautiful, with medium to full-bodied richness, lots of sweet black raspberry fruit, graphite, bouquet garni and licorice aromatics, and sweet, building tannin that comes through on the finish. It shows the purity and balance of the vintage, and will dish out loads of pleasure over the coming decade or more." (92 pts.)

RP92+ Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 30th Oct 2013

"Looking pretty close to the 2009 and 2010 in terms of quality, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape has slightly less Grenache than prior vintages, with 15% Mourvedre, 8% Syrah and the rest Grenache. Violets, underbrush, sweet black raspberry and cassis all flow from this medium to full-bodied, pure and elegantly styled effort. Showing plenty of fruit, good acidity and terrific purity, it should evolve gracefully for 12–15 years. Drink 2015–2027." (92–94 pts.)

ST91+ Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar Jan/Feb 2014

"Opaque ruby. Highly perfumed scents of fresh blueberry, potpourri and woodsmoke, with a suave floral quality emerging with air. Sweet dark berry and spicecake flavors gain weight with air, picking up a sexy floral pastille nuance and a touch of allspice. Impressively fresh and energetic, with a lingering note of dark berry preserves on the supple, gently tannic finish." (91–93 pts.)

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.
