"The 2018 Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard has loads of personality and perfume. It offers singular notions of juniper and floral potpourri with accents of cinnamon, citrus peel, apricots and berry preserves. The medium to full-bodied palate is super spicy and fresh, silkily framed and finishing long and layered with just a touch of warmth." (95 pts.)

"The 2018 Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard is powerful, deep and savory. Dried herbs, licorice, pine, leather, spice and earthiness give the Jackass Hill a good deal of brooding intensity. These vines planted 130 years ago, yield wines of notable density and power. I would give the 2018 at least a few years in bottle to allow the tannins to soften a touch." (93 pts.)
When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).
The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2015 One of the more overt, voluptuous Zinfandels in the range, the 2013 Giuseppe & Luisa blossoms in the glass with effortless grace. Dried dark cherries, plums, tobacco, leather and smoke. The flavors are dark, bold and racy, yet the 2013 retains its mid-weight personality and plenty of nuance. Layers of flavor build to the creamy, layered finish.SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2015 Bold and jammy, but surprisingly light-footed. Aromas of ripe raspberry and spiced cinnamon open to lush flavors of black cherry, grilled anise and pepper. Drink now through 2020. 664 cases made.
