"The 2020 Sillogi White is an equal blend of Assyrtiko and Malagousia from Ysterni Vineyard, unoaked, very dry and coming in at 12.8% alcohol. Light, tasty and fresh, this is an easygoing white without a lot of concentration, but it has a perky demeanor, mouth-coating texture and a moderately crisp edge. It’s a perfect summer refresher in an affordable price range. In its youth, this is a crowd-pleaser white. Drink it on the young side for best results. I thought the Paros white was slightly better this year, but the styles and blend are different and reasonable minds might differ. There were 20,000 bottles produced." (88 pts.)
Greece is one of the oldest wine-producing countries in the world, with evidence of wine production dating back to 6,500 years ago. With that said, Greece has been largely overshadowed by many of its Mediterranean counterparts when it comes to Old World wine production. There are, however, some fantastic, critically-acclaimed wines coming from Greece. Many of these hail from the Aegean Islands and Peloponnese appellations.
