Tempo d’Angélus

Grand Vin de Bordeaux
2020 / 750 ml.

Item #: 59094

JS92+92–93 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, June 2, 2021
A tight, linear red with lots of currants, salt and cloves on the nose and palate. Really spicy. Medium-bodied with firm, polished tannins and a flavorful finish. A new wine from the owners of Chateau Angélus, from the area of Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux.
RP90+90–92 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Jun 2021
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2020 Tempo d’Angélus charges out of the gate with bold notions of plum preserves, fresh blackberries and Morello cherries, plus hints of tilled soil, black olives and truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate has a beautifully velvety texture and a racy backbone supporting the generous black and red berry layers, finishing earthy. Very impressive for this price point! (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)
JD89+89–91 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 6/4/2021
A value-priced release from this brilliant estate, the 2020 Tempo D’Angélus comes all from vines owned by Château Angélus and is based on 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc aged 18 months in barrel. It’s well worth seeking out and has a dense purple hue to go with classic Right Bank Merlot black cherry and black raspberry fruits, tobacco, cedarwood, and floral nuances. Rich and medium to full-bodied, with good mid-palate density and a great finish, it should certainly be an outstanding wine. (Jeb Dunnuck)

VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022
The 2019 Barde-Haut is beautifully defined on the nose, very pure with precise blackberry, briary, violets and iris flower, harmonious. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins, cohesive and mineral-driven; the terroir is very expressive towards the finish that lingers in the mouth. Wonderful, assured and with great potential. Tasted at the Barde-Haut vertical at the château. (Neal Martin)
JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/11/2022
This beautiful estate is located on the eastern side of the appellation, and they consistently turn out brilliant wines. The 2019 Château Barde-Haut reveals a deep purple hue to go with classic limestone-influenced aromas and flavors of ripe black cherries, chalky minerality, chocolate, and white truffle. More medium to full-bodied and elegant than overtly powerful, its balance is spot on, it has beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It shows the vintage style perfectly and will benefit from 4–5 years of bottle age, and cruise for over two decades in cold cellars. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Château Pierre 1er

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
2020 / 750 ml.

Item #: 60547

VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023
The 2020 Pierre 1er is a very pretty, mid-weight Saint-Émilion. Ripe red-toned fruit, mocha, spice and rose petal are nicely amplified. Supple and forward, but not at all heavy, the Pierre 1er is an attractive, forward Saint-Émilion that will drink well right out of the gate. (Antonio Galloni)
RP90+90–92 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 20th May 2021
Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Pierre 1er comes barreling out of the glass with bold scents of baked blackberries, stewed black plums and mince pie, plus hints of menthol, black olives and charcoal. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with juicy black fruits, supported by finely grained tannins and bags of freshness, finishing long and layered. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)

Château Tour Saint Christophe

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
2020 / 750 ml.

Item #: 60548

JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/29/2023
The 2020 Château Tour Saint Christophe showed spectacularly well, and based off past vintages, this shouldn’t surprise anyone. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc raised in 40% new barrels (the balance is in second- and third-fill oak), it offers a full-bodied, incredibly pure, balanced style revealing subtle oak, terrific darker, almost blue fruits, lots of chocolate, leafy herb and mineral nuances, and gorgeous tannins. It’s worth pointing out that this will be the last vintage made by the talented Jérôme Aguirre. This terrific Saint-Emilion will evolve for two decades. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, May 14, 2023
So much black fruit, black walnuts, blueberries, wet earth, black truffles and some graphite. Medium to full body with lots of tension and focus. It runs very long with a salty undertone and some bitter, burnt lemon. Yet ever so subtle and refined. Drink after 2027. (James Suckling)
RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 6th Apr 2023
The 2020 Tour Saint Christophe opens in the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, raspberries and petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and pure palate that’s rich and fleshy, with generously extracted tannins asserting themselves on the finish. It’s a modern, crowd-pleasing wine from clay-rich soils opposite Troplong Mondot in the commune Saint Christophe des Bardes. (William Kelley)
VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023
The 2020 Tour Saint Christophe has grown into an elegant, sophisticated Saint-Émilion. Red/purplish berry fruit, hard candy, mint, blood orange, pomegranate and spice all run through the 2020. Medium in body and polished, the 2020 has maybe a bit less explosive intensity than recent previous years, but plenty of class. Today, I find Tour Saint Christophe a bit subdued. (Antonio Galloni)

Domaine de la Solitude Pessac-Léognan

2019 / 750 ml.

Item #: 59609

VN94+94–96 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2020
The 2019 Domaine de la Solitude is a powerful, brooding wine. Black cherry, lavender, dark spice, menthol, licorice and plum bring out somber shades of expression in this decidedly virile Pessac-Léognan. The potent tannins will require cellaring to soften, but there is so much to look forward to here. (Antonio Galloni)
JD9393 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/11/2022
Moving to the red, the 2019 Domaine De La Solitude (Pessac-Léognan) reveals a ruby/plum color as well as textbook Graves notes of red and black cherries, damp earth, chocolate, and smoked tobacco. It’s rich, medium to full-bodied, has ripe, supple, yet building tannins, and a great finish. It’s beautifully done, and while I’d happily drink a bottle today, it will keep for upwards of two decades. (Jeb Dunnuck)
