K Vintners Syrah Powerline Vineyard

2018 / 750 ml.

Item #: 56217

JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/6/2021
Another Syrah from this site in Walla Walla, the dense purple/ruby 2018 Syrah Powerline Vineyard offers up a classic nose of spiced red and black fruits, cured meats, peppery herbs, lavender, and truffle. This carries to a rich, medium to full-bodied Syrah with terrific tannins as well as balance. It already offers considerable pleasure yet is going to have a solid 10–15 years of longevity. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2022
Made entirely from Phelps clone Syrah, the 2018 Syrah Powerline was aged for 24 months in 35% new French oak prior to bottling. It has a very Côte-Rôtie bull’s-blood character alongside iodine and volcanic ash on the nose. The palate is plush with a seamless texture and wonderful length. A very pretty core of dark fruits mingles with shades of creosote, Earl Grey tea and suggestions of orange zest. The flavor and aromatic range here are outstanding, and this brilliant wine isn’t going anywhere for another 10 years.
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2022
A wine of presence and depth that opens to dark berry, licorice and smoky pepper flavors, which build detail and tension toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2030. 1,055 cases made.

Alain Voge Cornas Les Vieilles Vignes

2019 / 750 ml.

Item #: 58540

JD9797 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 2/16/2022
The 2019 Cornas Les Vieilles Vignes is similarly inky colored and has a classic nose of plums, Asian spices, sandalwood, and iron. Medium to full-bodied, with good acidity and ripe tannins, it doesn’t have the sheer weight, richness, or girth of the Vieilles Fontaines, yet it’s certainly a more classic Cornas that will be approachable with just 3–4 years of bottle age yet evolve for twenty years if you’re so inclined. (Jeb Dunnuck)
SP9696 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2022
This is packed with succulent cherry, plum paste and blackberry fruit flavors that show hints of mulled spice, dried anise, singed tobacco and sweet tapenade as they move through. A mouthwatering mineral edge extends the lengthy finish. Cellar patiently, then serve with game for the full seduction. Best from 2024 through 2038. 1,265 cases made, 225 cases imported. (James Molesworth)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 20th Jan 2022
Now, this is more like it. A big step up from the disjointed Les Chailles, the 2019 Cornas Vieilles Vignes is a classic rendering of Cornas, with hints of crushed stone, mint, blueberries and red berries on the nose. It’s medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated enough, yet it’s not overbearing or heavy; it’s just deliciously drinkable and will drink well for more than a decade. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes. (Joe Czerwinski)

RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Dec 2022
Showing its youthful demeanor with a fresh, dark, red-fruited core, the 2020 Syrah is bright and firm. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers an expressive tannic grip that drives the mouthfeel, expressing fresh plum skin and black cherry flavors alongside a delightful floral essence in the mouth. The wine glides to a firm and spicy finish and will remain food-friendly for years. Bravo! (Anthony Mueller)

Item #: 61704

JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, June 4, 2023
A very pure and floral nose with cherries, violets and plums as well. Medium body with velvety tannins and bright acidity. Such a succulent core of redcurrants and violets with minerality and a transparent character to the focused finish. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2024
Shows appealing sanguine, meaty character, with a core of steeped plum and a firming spine of iron. Well-defined, with chalky tannins, dried herbs, lavender and toasted apple wood. Drink now through 2030. 2,500 cases made, 500 cases imported. (Kristen Bieler)

Tensley Syrah, Colson Canyon Vineyard

2022 / 750 ml.

Item #: 61767

JD96+96–98 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/30/2023
The 2022 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard ratchets up the intensity and has a saturated purple hue as well as a killer nose of ripe black and blue fruits, graphite, ground pepper, and crushed stone-like minerality. Rich, concentrated, and powerful, it shines for its purity, has building tannins, and a great finish. (Jeb Dunnuck)
RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Dec 2023
The 2022 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard has an alluring nose of red, blue and black berries with accents of grilled game meats, forest floor and peppermint patty. The full-bodied palate is savory and deep, with chalky tannins, juicy acidity and a long finish laced with youthful cinnamon tones. It will have more to show after 3–5 years in bottle. (Erin Brooks)
