Malvirà Roero Arneis

2021 / 750 ml.

Item #: 59342

VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2022
The 2021 Roero Arneis is done in a fairly rich style for Arneis. Lemon confit, white flowers, tangerine peel, mint and light tropical overtones all grace this open-knit, inviting Arneis from Malvirà. This is very nicely done. (Antonio Galloni)

JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 4, 2021
Complex aromas of crushed black fruit, dried lemon peel, kalonji seeds and more if you linger. Full-bodied palate, where the intense fruit coats the medium-grain tannins on the center-palate and continues to push through the wall as the tannins firm up towards the end. The finish is already long and fruity and will only lengthen as the wine matures in bottle. Super quality here. Try from 2024.
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2021
Aromas of brandy-soaked dark cherry, anise, allspice and chopped mint show depth, concentration and purity in this Montepulciano that sees time in French oak. It’s rich in feel on the palate, but counterbalanced by a bright core of acidity that pushes along the dense berry and spice flavors. There’s a polish to it all that makes it accessible in the near term, but it would also hold well through 2028. (Alexander Peartree)
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2021
A sleek, medium-bodied red, with appealing violet and spice aromatics winding through flavors of crushed blackberry, dried fig and licorice snap. Trim tannins sculpt the finish, where a note of loamy earth emerges and lingers. Drink now through 2026. 2,900 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)

Avignonesi Nobile di Montepulciano

2018 / 750 ml.

Item #: 59814

VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023
The 2018 Nobile di Montepulciano is pretty and understated in the glass, wafting up with a mix of black currants, savory herbs and worn leather hints. This is round with a balanced inner sweetness, displaying mineral-tinged wild berry fruit and nuances of confectionary spice. The 2018 leaves only a gentle coating of fine tannins while finishing with citrus nuances and a hint of hard red candies. The Avignonesi style lent quite well to this warm and rainy vintage; as a result, they created a very delicate yet likable Nobile. (Eric Guido)

The 2020 Bolgheri Rosso is an absolutely gorgeous wine that overdelivers in its peer group. Silky, layered and light on its feet, the Rosso is superb. Hints of blueberry, menthol, licorice, pine and cinnamon all grace this attractive, stylish offering. (Antonio Galloni)

Poliziano Rosso di Montepulciano

2021 / 750 ml.

Item #: 59818

VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023
Wickedly fresh and floral, the 2021 Rosso di Montepulciano wafts up from the glass with a bouquet of wild strawberries, stems and all, plus touches of mint and blood orange. This steps softly yet with impact, impressing with fleshy red and blue fruits expertly offset by a salty core of minerality. Raspberry and blueberry preserves and rosy inner florals make the lightly tannic and medium-length finish a total pleasure. This is a beautiful blending of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot. (Eric Guido)

Avignonesi Da•Di Rosso

Sangiovese Made With Organic Grapes
2021 / 750 ml.

Item #: 59838

VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023
A lovely bouquet of lavender, violets and crushed blackberries rises from the 2021 Sangiovese Da-Di. This washes across the palate with an intense wave of fleshy ripe fruits, all balanced by a salty flourish of minerality and tantalizing acidity. The 2021 finishes with grippy concentration yet remains fresh, with blue- and purple-toned inner florals that linger. The Da-di is a varietal Sangiovese that’s refined in amphora, where about one-third of the grapes are left in whole clusters through fermentation. This is an incredibly fun wine to taste. Illuminati Riparosso

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
2020 / 750 ml.

Item #: 60010

JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, January 3, 2022
Ripe brambleberries and a tinge of coffee on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with firm, coffee-chocolate tannins that give a lightly chewy finish. Nice flavors to this, but give it a little time for the tannins to mellow. Drinkable now, but best in 2023. (James Suckling)
VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2022
One of the prettiest mixes of blackberries tinged with violet candies and spiced orange peels wafts up from the 2020 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riparosso. It’s juicy and fun, yet also silky with medium weight textures; ripe red and hints of blueberry fruits wash across the palate. A staining of minerality lingers, along with a pleasant inner sweetness to balance, as nuances of lavender fade. While not the deepest Montepulciano, the value here is unprecedented. I would drink this any day of the week. (Eric Guido)
