A more fruity version than many other Sauvignons, this smooth wine offers a relatively soft texture wrapped around lime, green apple and kiwi flavors. Attractive hints of vanilla and toast reflect aging on the lees. (Jim Gordon)

AXR Napa Valley Proprietary Red Wine

2021 / 750 ml.

Item #: 60895

RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Mar 2024
AXR’s 2021 Proprietary Red has aromas defined by notes of crushed stone and dried herbs. Yes, they’re backed by decent blackberry fruit, but this wine may prove a touch too herbal for some. Otherwise, this blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot is full-bodied and rather chunky in feel, yet it finishes silky and satisfying. (Joe Czerwinski)

Turnbull Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

2021 / 750 ml.

Item #: 61901

JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 12/26/2023
The appellation 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is a killer value that should be snatched up by readers. Ripe black fruits, roasted herbs, chocolate, and some spicy wood define the bouquet and it s full-bodied, has fine tannins, a glossy, layered texture, and outstanding length. It certainly has a modern edge, but is impeccably made. Enjoy bottles over the coming decade. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, January 4, 2024
An attractive nose of blackcurrants, dark cherries, plums and a dash of prunes as well. Full body with creamy tannins and texture. Round and fruity with plenty of blackberry and chocolate in the finish. Better after 2025. (James Suckling)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Dec 2023
Turnbull has been turning out some terrific wines in recent years, and the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is not only excellent, but it also represents a great value. Hints of cedar and vanilla accent cassis and black cherries on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is plush up front, then turns firmer on the lingering finish. (Joe Czerwinski)

Ripe but understated, with dark currant and plum reduction flavors that move through slowly. Laced with fresh hummus and tobacco notes, the grippy finish brings a touch of an old-school feel. Best from 2025 through 2035. 22,908 cases made. (James Molesworth)

WE9494 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2023
Seductive oak spices and a plush mouthfeel come with abundant red and black fruits in this full-bodied, appropriately tannic wine that needs time to reach its full potential. Pine and rosemary accents merge nicely with the blackberries and blueberries. Best from 2028–2038. (Jim Gordon)
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Feb 5, 2024
There’s a nice streak of warm earth and singed cedar running in lockstep with the core of cassis and gently mulled plum fruit, with savory and mineral accents checking in. Restrained in feel overall, with judicious toast that lets all the elements play out on the finish. Best from 2025 through 2036. 27,210 cases made. (James Molesworth)
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2023
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is fabulous. Rich and sumptuous to the core, the 2021 will be a very easy wine to drink now and over the next decade or so. Succulent dark cherry/plum, spice, rose petal and mocha are all dialed up. Silky tannins wrap it all together in style. (Antonio Galloni)
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Mar 2024
Clos du Val’s 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 5% Malbec and 1% each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Hints of thyme and sage accent cassis and cherries on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is on the fresher, leaner side of that spectrum, framed by fine-grained tannins and finishing with a strong note of mocha. It’s a solid, all-around effort at what is a realistic price for Napa Valley. (Joe Czerwinski)

JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, December 5, 2021
Aromas of dark cherries, blueberries, bark and sweet spices, such as cinnamon. Medium-to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Balanced and velvety with a rich core of fruit. Supple, juicy finish. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2022
Moderate tannins and vibrant acidity frame the bright red and black cherry flavors in this bold and full-bodied wine. The fruit flavors are medium intensity and light oak spices add a bit of complexity. (Jim Gordon)
