  1. Flaco Tempranillo

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#53871

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2021
Bright violet. Pungent cherry pit, cassis and licorice scents are sharpened by a peppery nuance. Chewy and focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry and dark berry flavors and a touch of espresso. Dusty tannins frame a long, nervy finish that echoes the cherry note. This is a pretty serious wine for its price category.

Fresh-plum, blackberry and black-tea aromas. It’s medium-bodied with firm, powdery tannins and a flavorful, creamy finish. Drink now.
    RP90+90+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Mar 2021
Maybe it was me, but I find the 2020 Malbec to be really excellent, with ripe Malbec fruit, notes of violets and berries and a spicy twist. The palate is round and juicy, nicely textured, with plush tannins and a long finish. Delicious, and a bargain at that price.

Brilliant violet. Aromas of candied red and dark berries, incense and smoky minerals are complemented by a building floral nuance. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering lively boysenberry, cherry and spicecake flavors and a hint of candied lavender. Finishes sweet and youthfully tannic, displaying strong, spice- and mineral-driven persistence. Fermented in small stainless steel tanks and aged in small used French oak barrels.

  9. Laya Red Blend

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#50620

    RP90+90+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Apr 2022
The 2020 Laya is balanced, harmonious and serious, and the vintage seems to have absorbed the oak quite nicely. This is always produced with 70% Garnacha Tintorera and 30% Monastrell. It fermented in stainless steel vats with neutral yeasts, with malolactic in barrel, where the wine matured for four months. 360,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2021.

  10. DeAngelis Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#54582

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2021
The 2019 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo blends a perfumed mix of violets and wet stone with crushed blackberries and hints of fresh mint. This is juicy and pure, with a vivid display of wild berries, gaining a more tactile feel as minerals collect toward the close. It tapers off to freshness and a gentle tug of residual acids, leaving the palate stained with purple-tinged florals. I’m not ashamed to use “Yum” as a descriptor.

  11. Marqués de Cáceres Rueda Verdejo

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#57435

    WS9292 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 08/21
Cristina Forner at Cáceres has been branching out from Rioja, and this may be one of her most successful new wines. In 2014, she invested in 300 acres of vines on terraces above the Duero River; the vines, mostly verdejo and mostly on gravelly sand, surround the winery built at the vineyard. Eso es Rueda, I wrote, when I tasted this wine. Its dynamic contrast of rich and fresh, its brisk flavors of apples and turmeric, its leesy depths and lasting refreshment all set the bar for affordable pleasure in verdejo. Chill it for shellfish, particularly grilled oysters with spicy garlic butter.
    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2021
Pale yellow. A pungent bouquet displays mineral-accented citrus and orchard fruits, along with strong floral and fresh bay accents. Juicy and chewy in texture, offering energetic Anjou pear, orange pith and tarragon flavors underscored by a vein of smoky minerality. Powerful yet lithe, finishing with sharp clarity and good, mineral-driven persistence.

  15. Borsao Garnacha

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#55779

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2021
Brilliant magenta. Smoke-tinged dark berries, cracked pepper and a hint of gaminess on the pungent nose. Chewy and tightly focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry and boysenberry flavors that unfurl and become sweeter on the back half. Lingers with very good persistence on the finish, which features silky tannins and a strong echo of sweet blue fruit. This wine is ridiculously easy to drink and delivers really great value.
