  1. Casa Santos Lima Colossal Reserva

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#47387

    WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/1/2018
This is certainly an intensely structured wine, but its name seems rather excessive for what are balanced fruit and juicy tannins. It has a smooth, minty character, bold berry fruits and a ripe full texture. The tannins and acidity will allow the wine to age further well into 2019, although it can be drunk now.

    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2019
This fragrant, focused red boasts inviting earthy aromas of truffle, wild berry, tilled soil, new leather and blue flower. On the elegantly structured, youthfully austere palate, firm refined tannins accompany red cherry, crushed raspberry and star anise while fresh acidity provides balance. Drink 2020–2025.

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#48253

    RP91+91+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2018
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is medium to deep garnet-purple in color with a nose of cassis, blackcurrant bud, crushed plums, bitter chocolate, old leather and a whiff of pencil shavings. It’s full-bodied with lush black fruit in the mouth framed by herbal notes, with very fine, grainy tannins and good acidity to lift the dense finish. Very classic style of Cabernet Sauvignon and a great value. 1,510 cases produced.

    2014 / 750 ml. | Item#51124

    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, July 24, 2017
A big ripe wine with a touch of caramel alongside the big black plum note. A massively tannic but relatively plush wine that has a certain freshness. This ought to age well. Better from 2020.
    RP8787 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Feb 2017
There is a new red blend of Tempranillo with some 13% Cabernet Sauvignon called 2014 El Transformador, from grapes mostly from a plot that names the wine. The vines were planted in the 1970s on limestone soils. It fermented with indigenous yeasts after a cold soak with dry ice, followed by ten months in second and third year French oak barrels. It showed very high ripeness and some volatility that made it a little blurry. The palate showed similar flavors and some dusty tannins. 8,000 bottles produced.

Some modern, meaty oak and spice, laid across ripe dark cherries and plums here. The palate has a very smooth and slick feel with a succulent, juicy and attractively fresh, dark-plum finish. Handy depth. Drink or hold.

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#50453

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2018
The 2016 La Branne has a lovely, generous and pure bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and tobacco aromas that just burst from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, smooth in the mouth with a touch of white pepper and clove towards the quite complex finish. What a superb Médoc. Tasted at the Oenoconseil tasting room in Bordeaux.

This is a rounded wine, with proper herbal flavors as well as ripe gooseberry and citrus. It is textured, mineral and still young. It will likely be at its best from 2021.

Very ripe and slightly raw oak over black fruit and coconut candy. The palate has dense, chewy fruit and really assertive tannins. Needs a year or two to settle in.

  12. Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Chardonnay

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#35998

    WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2020
Fruity, smooth and slightly spicy, this medium-bodied wine is a crowd-pleaser. Still one of the best Chardonnays with the broad California label designation, it offers delicious peach, ginger and vanilla flavors, and a good balance between ripeness and crispness.
    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2020
The 2018 Chardonnay Vintner’s Reserve, the Kendall-Jackson flagship, is gorgeous. Pretty tropical accents add complexity to a core of citrus and floral notes. Orange confit, white and yellow flowers and mint all grace this delicious, inviting Chardonnay. This is such a pretty wine.

  13. J. Lohr Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon

    WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2020
For an affordable wine that’s available almost everywhere in the country, this bottling is hard to beat. Fresh aromas of black currant, elderberry, lilac, pepper and charcoal lead into a rich palate of cassis, oak and charred beef, all lifted by herbs and peppercorns.

  14. Château L’Argenteyre Médoc

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#46746

    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2017
Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Chateau l’Argenteyre has an attractive bouquet with blackberry, bilberry, sous bois and tobacco scents that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, good structure and an insistent grip on the finish that is backed up by clean and fresh fruit. I like the sturdiness of this Médoc, coupled with just the right amount of finesse. Tasted September 2017.
