Salt Wine Company Pinot Noir

2021 / 750 ml.

Item #: 61891

WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2023
This is a nicely balanced wine, with modest tannins and acidity, restrained fruit and a smooth mouthfeel. The aromas of raspberries and rose hips are a perfect pairing, with additional notes of sweet tobacco leaf and a touch of maple. The fruit turns to blackberry on the palate, where it joins thyme and a mocha-like espresso and sweet dark-chocolate combination. (Michael Alberty)

99 West Pinot Noir

2021 / 750 ml.

Item #: 62798

VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2024
The 2021 Pinot Noir opens with woodland herbs and berries, joining cedar hints. This is round with cooling acidity and crisp red berry fruits giving way to violet inner florals. Long with a licorice tinge, this finishes with a pleasantly bitter edge, calling the taster back to the glass for more. (Eric Guido)
JS9090 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, May 9, 2023
This is earthy, with notes of spice box and black licorice and a ripe berry fruit backbone. Medium-bodied, juicy and pretty straightforward, with crunchy acidity and a flavorful finish. Drink now. (James Suckling)
WE8888 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2023
A bright cherry aroma is matched with notes of hay and aged balsamic vinegar. The wine’s tangy sweet-tart raspberry and peach flavors glide along a rich, full mouthfeel. Plush tannins, with modest acidity. Good value here. (Michael Alberty)

Bright and bouncy, with aromas of dusty roadside raspberries, garrigue and a wee bit of cantaloupe. The wine’s crisp acidity and brisk mouthfeel pairs nicely with its smooth, mostly integrated tannins. Flavors like strawberry jam on toast, beeswax and bittersweet dark chocolate complement a shot of espresso. Great value. (Michael Alberty)

Bergström Cumberland Reserve Pinot Noir

2021 / 750 ml.

Item #: 59463

RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 9th Mar 2023
Medium ruby-purple, the 2021 Pinot Noir Cumberland Reserve offers generous aromas of cranberry sauce, floral potpourri, blood orange and wafts of dried herbs. The medium-bodied palate is youthfully gregarious and focused on generous allspice flavors, although its chalky, tensile frame and long, latent finish suggest this has more to give with additional time in bottle. (Erin Brooks)
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2023
Fresh and juicy yet well-structured, with vibrant cherry and cranberry flavors that take on dusky spice and black tea accents. Builds richness toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2032. 4,500 cases made. (Tim Fish)
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, April 4, 2023
Fresh and crunchy pinot with aromas of fresh strawberries, peppercorns, green olives, freshly turned soil and rosemary stems. Lovely silky texture, yet firm too, with tight-grained tannins and bright acidity. Delicious balance of sweet fruit and savory earthiness. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2024
The 2021 Pinot Noir Reserve Cumberland blossoms in the glass with dusty blackberry and rose petals complicated by hints of incense and clove. Succulent and round with ripe red fruit depths and inner florals. It takes on a chalky minerality as juicy acidity maintains an energetic feel. Hints of sour citrus tug at the senses as the 2021 finishes fresh and crisp, leaving gently staining silty tannins. The balance here is outstanding. (Eric Guido)

Bright ruby. Lively, spice-tinged cherry and raspberry aromas and flavors slow good clarity and a hint of succulent herbs. Taut and focused in style, with a hint of licorice emerging on the subtly tannic finish, which leaves a zesty, vaguely tart red currant note behind.

Shimmering garnet. Expansive aromas of fresh red fruits, botanical herbs and baking spices take on smoky mineral and floral overtones as the wine opens up. Juicy and precise in the mouth, offering alluringly sweet raspberry preserve, candied rose and spicecake flavors that convey depth as well as vivacity. Finishes on a juicy red fruit note, with silky, polished tannins and excellent, floral-driven persistence.

Beaux Frères Zena Crown Pinot Noir

Glistening ruby. Vibrant, mineral- and spice-accented black raspberry, kirsch and boysenberry aromas are complemented by a bright floral nuance and an exotic blood orange note. Juicy and sharply focused on the palate, offering intense red and blue fruit, candied lavender and spicecake flavors that show fine definition and back-end lift. The floral note repeats strongly on the impressively long, penetrating finish, which is framed by polished, well-knit tannins.
SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2021
Finesse meets structure, with expressive cherry and blueberry flavors that take on notes of orange peel, stony minerality and dusky spice, building momentum toward polished tannins. Drink now through 2030. 253 cases made.

RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Aug 2023
I tasted the 2021 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley about a month after it was bottled, but it doesn’t seem to matter—it bursts from the glass with generous pomegranate, cranberry and raspberry preserves aromas and accents of orange peel, aniseed and tea leaves. The palate is stunning: it strikes a balance between highly concentrated, nuanced fruit and an uplifted, silky structure, and it has a particularly elegant finish. (Erin Brooks)
SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2023
Sleek, graceful and elegantly proportioned, with expressive violet, raspberry, guava and black tea flavors that jump out of the glass and gather richness toward polished tannins. Drink now through 2032. 3,780 cases made. (Tim Fish)
JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, April 4, 2023
Wild and vibrant nose of rosemary, cherry stones, small strawberries, violets and seaweed. So fresh, with a medium body and powdery tannins. I like the persistent fine, chalky texture. Unfined and unfiltered. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 9/17/2023
Deep ruby with a purple tinge, the 2021 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley is generous and attractive, with a pure and spicy perfume of pressed flowers, wild raspberry preserve, and brambly herbs. Approachable and drinking well out of the gate, this medium to full-bodied red is ripe with juicy fruit, good structure, ripe tannins, and pithy texture, as well as a touch of warming spice on a long finish. It’s a solid appellation wine that casts a very large net for appeal. Drink 2024–2030. (Audrey Frick)

The 2021 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley wafts up with a pretty mix of wild strawberries, lavender and wet stone. It flows across the palate, perfumed with finessed red berry fruits. Crunchy mineral tones linger along with hints of clove, finishing with medium length and pleasantly chewy. (Eric Guido)

Patricia Green Cellars Reserve Pinot Noir

2021 / 750 ml.

Item #: 59974

JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 9/17/2023
The bright ruby 2021 Pinot Noir Reserve is pure, classic, and inviting, with ripe red cherry fruit, cinnamon, and wildflowers. Medium-bodied, with balanced texture and a savory, pure edge, it delivers a mouthwatering and refreshing snap of crunchy fruit on the finish. This is a stellar introductory wine from Patricia Green Cellars to enjoy over the next 3–5 years. (Audrey Frick)
WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2023
This reserve wine is a great way to make the acquaintance of the winery’s “house style.” The wine’s aromas of blackberry, orange peel and cacao nibs are rich and tangy all at once. Black cherry and tangerine flavors join together with bursts of white tea and clove, with crisp acidity and velvety tannins. (Michael Alberty)

From vines planted between 1984 and 1997, the 2021 Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard Old Vine moves to a savory realm. Initially the aromatics are more reserved, but it has an intense texture, with great structure, significant persistence, and mineral accents throughout. It’s long on the palate and demands 3–5 years of cellar time. Mouthwatering and long, it’s an incredible wine to drink 2026–2046. It seems insane that this wine and the Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard are from the same vineyard. (Audrey Frick)
