Andremily Eaba 2018 / 750 ml.

Item#: 56197

JD9797 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/26/2021
The 2018 Eaba is another wine from Jim that puts its foot firmly on the ripeness pedal and offers a blockbuster-like style of ripe black fruits, wood smoke, cured meats, and peppery goodness. Full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, it’s flawlessly balanced, has gorgeous tannins, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming 10–12 years or so. The 2018 is 59% Syrah, 23% Mourvedre, 15% Grenache, and the rest Viognier, aged 22 months in 50% new French oak. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2021
The 2018 EABA is another impressive wine in this range. Ample and explosive in the glass, the 2018 hits the palate with masses of dark fruit, chocolate, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol. Bright savory accents from the 60% stems lend energy and freshness. EABA is mostly Bien Nacido fruit, with dollops from White Hawk, Larner, Harrison-Clarke and Alta Mesa.
RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 7th Oct 2021
Deep purple-black, the nose opens with boisterous, rip-snorting scents of plum preserves, blackberry pie, licorice and wild sage, giving way to underlying nuances of candied violets, espresso and charcuterie. The full-on, full-bodied palate is jam-packed with decadent black and blue fruit preserves layers, framed by bright acidity and beautifully plush tannins, finishing long and spicy. Yum!

JD9999 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/30/2023
The EABA is more Syrah-dominated and checks in as 65% Syrah, 22% Mourvèdre, 10% Grenache, and the rest Viognier that saw plenty of stems and close to two years in 50% new French oak. Its inky purple hue is followed by a sensational bouquet of bloody blue fruits, black raspberries, iron, ground pepper, baking spices, and who knows what else. Incredibly complex and nuanced (yet intense) aromatically, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, layered, concentrated mouthfeel, and a finish that won’t quit. It’s certainly one of the biggest, richest wines in the lineup, yet like all of Jim’s wines, it remains light on its feet, has brilliant purity of fruit, and is as drinkable as could be. (Jeb Dunnuck)
RP98+98+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 16th Nov 2023
The 2020 Eaba explodes from the glass with very pure scents of violet, star anise, boysenberry and black cherry complemented by wafts of coffee beans, Castelvetrano olives and currant leaves. The palate is enveloping and luxurious with loads of velvety tannins, highly concentrated perfumed fruit and youthful streaks of new oak spice. It retains plenty of juicy acidity, which balances the wine and highlights its detailed spice and floral accents on the epically long finish. 780 cases and a few magnums were made. With patience, this may reach a “perfect” zenith. (Erin Brooks)

2019 / 750 ml.

Item #: 59142

JD9797 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2022
Moving to the 2019s from bottle, the 2019 Grenache offers a slightly more floral and perfumed style, with kirsch liqueur, herbes de Provence, sandalwood, and licorice. This carries to a medium to full-bodied Grenache that has a seamless, layered texture, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It’s a more ethereal, perfumed, ultra-fine effort that will drink well for 15 years or more. (Jeb Dunnuck)
RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022
The 2019 Grenache is blended with 11% Mourvèdre, 6% Syrah and 4% Graciano and was made using 65% whole clusters. Fruit comes from the Slide Hill Vineyard in Edna Valley, and the Alta Mesa Vineyard, Larner Vineyard and Harrison-Clarke Vineyard in Santa Barbara County. It was matured for about 21 months in 50% new French barriques and 600-liter demi-muids and 50% used French barriques. Deep ruby in color, it opens with savory tones of tar and loamy earth that give way to potpourri, cinnamon stick, prosciutto and black cherries. The medium-bodied palate is bright and juicy with fragrant fruits, fine, grainy tannins and bright acidity, and it has a very long, latent, spicy finish hinting at further improvement in bottle. Bottled on August 21, 2021, and tasted May 25, 2022, it will be released to consumers in the summer of 2022. 395 cases and a few magnums are available; it will be packaged and sold as a three-bottle set ($330), while magnums will be offered as a box set with the 2019 Andremily EABA. Item #: 62298

JD97+97–100 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/30/2023
Lastly, the Syrah-dominated 2021 No 10 reveals a dense purple hue as well as a wild bouquet of blueberries, wild strawberries, ground pepper, game, iron, and assorted floral, meaty nuances. Stunningly complex even at this young age, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a pure, layered, seamless mouthfeel, ample tannins and underlying structure, and a finish that won’t quit. It will clearly be a match for the 2020, and this puppy is going to flirt with perfection at maturity. (Jeb Dunnuck)
RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 16th Nov 2023
The 2021 No. 10 is a blend of 93% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre and 2% Viognier. Grapes come from several vineyards, including Andremily’s new Slide Hill estate in Edna Valley, White Hawk, Larner, Harrison-Clarke, Kimsey and Alta Mesa Vineyards in Santa Barbara County. It was vinified with 50% whole clusters and matured for around 22 months in 65% new French barriques. Bottled August 12 and tasted October 25, it boasts a supermassive black hole of dark, perfumed fruit at the core. With time in the glass, it reveals pure accents of mint chocolate, vanilla bean, olives, lilac, tar and botanical nuances. The palate is incredibly concentrated, its graphite-laced fruit waiting to explode. All that depth of fruit is balanced by fireworks of fresh acidity and velvety tannins, and it has a highly latent finish. 900 cases were made, which will be sold as part of a three-bottle box set for $330. A few magnums were also made, which will be sold as part of a two-bottle set with the 2021 Mourvèdre. (Erin Brooks)

The 2021 Andremily No. 10 is one of the finest wines I have tasted at Andremily. Vibrant, focused and explosive, the 2021 possesses tremendous energy from start to finish. Dark red cherry, red plum, rose petal, cinnamon and new leather are some of the many notes that build as the 2021 opens in the glass. This is seriously impressive. (Antonio Galloni)

Andremily Mourvedre 2021 / 750 ml.

2021 / 750 ml.

Item #: 62301

RP100100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 16th Nov 2023
The 2021 Mourvèdre is another archetypal example of the variety from Andremily, where winemaker Jim Binns manages to polish what can be a naturally rustic variety into a shining, sapphire-like expression. Bottled on August 26 and tasted on October 25, it shows the elegance and juiciness that is characteristic of a cooler growing season. It’s explosive and electrically blue on the nose, with incredibly pure aromas of blueberry candy, violet, juniper and accents of coffee beans, warm chocolate, aniseed and grilled Wagyu beef—it continually unfurls to reveal new scents with each return to the glass. The palate is just as impressive with its balance of concentrated, fragrant fruit, fireworks of fresh acidity and finely chalky tannins, and it has a tremendously long, perfumed finish. (Erin Brooks)
JD96+96–98 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/30/2023
The 2021 Mourvedre starts out tight and closed yet has a pretty, nuanced style in its blueberry and strawberry fruits as well as sandalwood, candied orange, iron, and peppery, spicy nuances. Full-bodied on the palate, it builds beautifully with time in the glass and picks up more varietal meatiness, has solid tannins, perfect balance, and a great finish. A beautiful Mourvèdre, it will benefit from 3–5 years of bottle age and, I suspect, have at least two decades of overall longevity. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN92+92–94 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2023
The 2021 Mourvèdre is a potent, savory wire. Dark-fleshed fruit, savory herbs, graphite, scorched earth and leather lend tons of savory nuance. Most of this fruit is from Alta Mesa in Santa Barbara County. The Mourvèdre here is very good, but stylistically it is not as interesting as wines from predominantly estate vineyards. It will be fascinating to see if the 2021 opens a bit with aging. Today, it is decidedly reticent. (Antonio Galloni)

Item #: 60967

JD9999 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/30/2023
I loved the 2020 No 9 from barrel and this beauty does not disappoint from bottle. Based on 89% Syrah, 9% Mourvèdre, and the rest Viognier that was only 50% destemmed, it spent 22 months in 65% new French oak. A wine that demands lots of air to show at its best, it reveals a deep plum/purple hue as well as a brilliant bouquet of red, blue, and black fruits, ground pepper, iodine, crushed violets, and wild sagebrush. With incredible purity and precision aromatically, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, layered, concentrated mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s a big, rich wine from Binns, but if anything, it shows another level of finesse and stays light on its feet and graceful. This world-class Syrah will benefit from 3–5 years of bottle age and evolve nicely over the following two decades. It’s clearly one of the wines of the vintage in Santa Barbara, if not one of the greatest 2020s in the state. (Jeb Dunnuck)
RP98+98+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 16th Nov 2023
The 2020 No. 9 is a blend of 89% Syrah, 9% Mourvèdre and 2% Viognier. It was vinified with 50% whole clusters and matured for around 22 months in 65% new French barriques. It’s powerful and ripe yet detailed, offering a soaring expression that begins with dark fruit and soft meaty tones and, with time, blossoms with nuances of coffee beans, garrigue, star anise, sagebrush and dark chocolate. The full-bodied palate explodes with layer after layer of spicy, über concentrated fruit. It has a support of powdery tannins and vibrant acidity that highlights flashes of floral perfume and spice, and it calls you back to the glass with its long, nuanced finish. It deserves plenty of time in bottle to unwind. 890 cases and a few magnums were made. (Erin Brooks)

Tasted out of barrel, the 2021 White Cuvee offers a killer bouquet of ripe tropical fruits, honeyed flowers, citrus oil, and toasted bread as well as a deep, concentrated (no doubt due to the drought) style on the palate. This ripe, sexy, yet pure and flawlessly balanced white should be snatched up by readers. (Jeb Dunnuck)
RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 16th Nov 2023
The 2021 White Cuvée is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 26% Roussanne, 19% Marsanne and 15% Viognier, with grapes from Jesperson Vineyard and Slide Hill Vineyard in Edna Valley, plus Stolpman Vineyard in Ballard Canyon. Matured for around 21 months in 50% new French barriques, it was bottled on August 12 and tasted on October 25. It opens with very classy matchstick and allspice that give way to an alluring core of peach and apple compote, jasmine and meringue. The full-bodied palate is luxuriously satiny and fantastically concentrated, although its notably vibrant acidity offers balance and creates juicy bursts of spicy fruit as it flows through the mouth. It boasts an epically long finish with a depth of spicy flavor that lures you back to the glass. 300 cases were made, which will be sold as part of a three-bottle box set. (Erin Brooks)

The 2020 Grenache is absolutely brilliant, and unquestionably up with the finest examples of this variety out there. Based on 78% Grenache, 12% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah raised in 50% new oak, it has a kaleidoscope-like bouquet of kirsch liqueur, ripe strawberries, spring flowers, incense, and ground pepper, to name just a few aromatics. This carries to a full-bodied, multi-dimensional, layered, hedonistic beauty with velvety tannins, a powerful yet somehow still fresh and elegant mouthfeel, and a blockbuster of a finish. It will evolve for two decades. (Jeb Dunnuck)

The 2020 Grenache is blended with 12% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah. It was vinified using 70% whole clusters, matured for around 21 months in 50% new French barriques and aged an additional year in bottle before release. It has youthfully dense blueberry, baked plum, cherry fruit and slowly opening accents of cardamom, lilac and olive. JD100100 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 1/27/2021
The 2018 Syrah from this estate is another majestic example of the variety and actually reminds me of the 2010. Gorgeous blackberry and blue fruits, notes of bacon fat, bouquet garni, and peppered game, full-bodied richness, and flawless balance all make for a captivating Syrah that can be drunk today or cellared for 15+ years. It’s as good as anything out there. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JS9999 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, December 8, 2021
Amazing aromas of graphite, blackcurrant, black pepper, and blue fruit. Slate, too. Full-bodied, yet so agile and light, in a way that makes it irresistible to taste and drink. The palate is full of flavor with extraordinary mushroom, dried-meat., chocolate and black-fruit character. So long, with a creamy texture from the intense yet fine tannins. Great finish. Hard not to drink now, but will be better in 2025.
RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2020
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 IX Syrah Estate comes galloping out of the glass with energetic scents of black cherries, mulberries, warm plums and boysenberries plus hints of chocolate box, garrigue, bacon and violets and just a touch of cracked black pepper. Medium-bodied, delicately styled and refreshing, it whispers rather than shouts of fragrant black fruits with soft, rounded tannins coating the long, spicy and floral-perfumed finish. This makes such a great complement to the Cabernet from IX Estate this vintage, it’s almost a shame to split them up!
VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021
The 2018 Syrah IX Estate is a bold, luscious wine. Black cherry, licorice, smoke, gravel and cracked pepper are some of the notes that infuse the 2018 Syrah with tremendous character. Dense and explosive, the 2018 is a real head-turner from the very first taste. As always, the Colgin Syrah is a wine of real power, plushness and textural intensity, but there is plenty of structure as well. In 2018, the Syrah only suffers because of the stratospheric quality of the Cabernets.
SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jan 27, 2022

RP97+97–99+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Nov 2019
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Syrah Hudson Vineyard barrel sample explodes form the glass with an incredible array of classic Syrah notes: black cherries, black plums, blackberries and licorice with hints of garrigue, tar, bouquet garni and bacon fat. Full-bodied, the palate is equally atomic, with bags of expressive black fruits and meaty/peppery hints framed by ripe, rounded tannins, finishing long, refreshing and oh-so-spicy.
VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021
The 2018 Syrah Hudson Vineyards is every bit as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. Sleek and silky to the core, the 2018 possesses exceptional balance and tons of pedigree. In 2018, the Syrah is all primary fruit, while the varietal savory notes, that are typical of this wine, have not emerged yet.
VN94+94–97 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2020
The 2018 Syrah Hudson Vineyards is remarkably primary and yet, texturally, it is a wine of tremendous polish and sophistication. Today, it is the wine’s persistence that is most impressive. Like most of the 2018s here, the Syrah is light on its feet, nuanced and all about finesse. I can’t wait to see it in another year.

Another magical wine, the 2018 Fracture is based on 100% Syrah brought up in new and used French oak. Deep purple-hued, with beautiful notes of crème de cassis, blackberries, vanilla bean, toasted spices, white flowers, and a hints of charcuterie, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, perfectly integrated oak, a rounded, lush mouthfeel, and a great finish. This unabashedly Paso Robles Syrah brings loads of fruit yet stays balanced, elegant, and is simply a thrill to drink. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2020
Youthful purple. Heady, spice-accented aromas of blackberry, blueberry cherry liqueur and pungent flowers show excellent clarity and energetic lift. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, displaying sharply defined black/blue fruit, violet pastille, cola and exotic spice flavors that turn livelier as the wine opens up. Finishes extremely long, smoky and minerally, with powerful, spicy thrust, a repeating floral note and gently chewy, polished tannins.

A barrel sample of 100% Syrah aging in 65% new French oak, the deep purple-black colored 2018 Fracture has a nose of tar, loamy earth, grilled meats, roasted lamb, rosemary and thyme with loads of violet perfume, mint chocolate and coffee bean aromas — this is already incredibly layered. It’s full-bodied and silky, slowly unfurling to spicy, floral-tinged blue fruits. It has an excellent frame with plush tannins and incredibly surprising freshness, finishing very long and very dense. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored — WOW — perfumed black and blue fruits prance out of the glass, revealing accents of candied violets and cinnamon stick, supporting the plum preserves, blackberry compote and garrigue-scented core, plus hints of molten dark chocolate, licorice, Chinese five spice and bacon with a touch of iron ore. The densely laden, full-bodied palate is seriously showy, featuring flamboyant black fruit preserves and exotic spice layers with a solid backbone of ripe, rounded tannins and bold freshness, finishing with epic length and loads of earth, pepper and floral fireworks.

Checking in as 82% Syrah, 6.7% Mourvèdre, and the rest Petite Sirah and Grenache, the 2018 Syrah Ziehharmonika was largely destemmed and brought up in 51% new French oak. Gorgeous crème de cassis, smoked game, bacon fat, and spring flower notes all soar from the glass of this beauty, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, ripe, building tannins, and a rare mix of richness and freshness. Unquestionably made in a more restrained, elegant style compared to a decade ago, it nevertheless is flawlessly balanced, has awesome tannins, and is just another magical wine from this address that’s going to benefit from 3–5 years of bottle age and keep for two decades.
