Aromas of rose petal, dried herb, chocolate and cherry lead to pleasing dark-fruit and chocolate flavors that paint around the edges, considerably lighter in the middle. What’s there impresses and delivers a lot of value. (Sean P. Sullivan)

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

Precisely structured, rich yet elegantly firm, this red is generous, with blackberry, dried sage and olive flavors that finish with broad-shouldered tannins. Drink now through 2030. 11,864 cases made. (Tim Fish)

I loved the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain, which is loaded with sweet red and black currant fruit as well as some classic Cabernet spice, tobacco, leather, and loamy earth notes. This medium-bodied, nicely balanced, concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon has enough concentration and structure to evolve for a solid decade. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Aromas of grated nutmeg, black and red currants and wild herbs. Full-bodied with firm tannins. Fresh acidity and ripe fruit create a pleasant dynamic on the palate. Well balanced. 84% cabernet sauvignon, 7% merlot, 7% malbec and 2% petit verdot. Drink now. (James Suckling)

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon The Classic is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon but includes 12.5% each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, all from the In The Rock Vineyard. It spent 22 months in 50% new oak. Ripe plums, currants, wild strawberry, sweet tobacco, dried flowers, and hints of iron all emerge from this gorgeous wine that’s medium to full-bodied, has a ripe, seamless mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. The texture and balance are spot on, and while it’s already incredibly complex, it should easily evolve for 15–20 years if well stored. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Another gem is the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain Estate, a deep, concentrated, powerful Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon that I suspect will be up there with the legendary wines from this terroir. Beautiful cassis, graphite, lead pencil shavings, and damp earth notes give way to a full-bodied effort that has a liqueur of rocks-like minerality, flawless balance, building yet polished tannins, and a great finish. Hide bottles for 4–5 years, and it will evolve for 25–30 years if properly stored. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2022
A stunning bottling from Red Mountain, the 2019 Caberret Sauvignon shows incredible flavor density and tension from this cooler vintage. On the nose, it shows off exotic spices that mingle with tar, arise, crème de cassis and violets. The palate is plush and jam-packed full of dark fruits, tobacco leaf, huckleberry coulis and mocha; refined tannins hold everything in place. Astonishingly good in its youth, this has at least another 20 years ahead of it. Be sure to give it at least a two-hour decant if enjoying young. (Owen Bargreen)
WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2022
Blackberry, crushed rock, black cherry and spice aromas lead to ripe, intense, seamless, balanced dark-fruit flavors. The tannins give a firm grip. An extended finish caps it off. It’s glorious. (Sean P. Sullivan)
SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2023
A gutsy red that retains a sense of style and polish, with expressive blackberry, espresso and toasty spice flavors that build structure toward broad-shouldered tannins. Drink now through 2030. 450 cases made. (Tim Fish)

This wine is consistently one of the best values in the world, and the latest vintage does not disappoint. The aromas enchant, with notes of Nestea Lemon Iced Tea, peach, citrus, lime leaf and honeysuckle. Dry, straight-down-the fairway lime and other citrus flavors follow. The balance is impressive. (Sean P. Sullivan)

Ste. Michelle’s Dry Riesling is a benchmark for the category, lean with scents of lemon and a hint of peach, flavors that are juicy and light, with refreshing acidity for an afternoon sip.
