Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 / 750 ml.

Cabernet Sauvignon plus a small percentage of Merlot and Syrah adds up to a big “bang for the buck” experience. Black-cherry, dark-chocolate and orange aromas are flanked by wee bits of well-worn leather and roasted red bell pepper. The wine has grippy tannins and soft acidity to match up with gobs of blackcap-raspberry and blueberry flavors. Little touches of cedar and mocha powder add interest. (Michael Alberty)
WS8888 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/22
Dark and woolly with black-cherry and tobacco flavors and modest wood notes, this is generous and complex for its price.

Attractive nose of blueberries, dark plums, dark chocolate, orange zest, cinnamon and violets. It’s full-bodied with delicious ripeness and plushness. Broad, muscular tannins. Pretty spice and chocolate character at the end. Long and caressing. 83% cabernet sauvignon, 12% malbec and 5% petit verdot. Drink from 2024. (James Suckling)

The Bolt is made predominantly with fruit from own-rooted vines growing at approximately 1,200 feet above sea level in the Goose Mountain block of Goose Ridge Ranch. It is graceful and balanced, with juicy acidity, sturdy tannic structure and restrained alcohol. With its aromas and flavors of Bing cherries, salted black licorice, orange blossoms, freshly cut grass and a savory note of pan-seared steak with fresh rosemary, this is a stunning value. RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 11th May 2023
Made with 6% Merlot, 3% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a rich, lively, expressive nose of black raspberry, oak and red florals that sway with sweet herbs and elegant baking spices. Full-bodied, fresh and still tannic, the wine will take a couple more years to come around but will be a juggernaut once it picks up momentum. After spending almost two years in 87% new French oak barrels, it will need some time, so be patient. (Anthony Mueller)

RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 11th May 2023
The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve bursts with an impressive nose and was made with the addition of 10% Petit Verdot and 3% Merlot. There are healthy and seductive aromas on the nose along with succulent black plum, spiced cherry compote and blackberry skin before elegant brown baking spices lift out of the glass with resinous red and purple flowers. Full-bodied, big and juicy, with plenty of oak, the palate offers a fine mineral tension, harmoniously balanced fine-grained tannins and succulent acidity. The wine continues to somersault and uncoil across the bold, long-lingering and generous finish that leaves behind a firm tannic edge. Give this at least two more years in the bottle before opening, but I suspect it will be better with three. Bravo! (Anthony Mueller)

Aromas of sliced apples, lemon pith, crushed sage, raw almonds and stones. Medium-bodied, creamy and mild with crisp acidity and a crunchy stone-fruit texture. Flavorful finish. Drink now. (James Suckling)
WE8787 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2022
This hedonistic treat is a well-executed take on the buttery-creamy style of Chardonnay. The wine features coconut and warm apple-pie aromas, with a splash of rose water on the nose. Flavors such as lemon butter, spicy cinnamon and caramel apple fill every nook and cranny of the olfactory system. (Michael Alberty)
