Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 / 750 ml.

Item#: 44604

WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2022
Cabernet Sauvignon plus a small percentage of Merlot and Syrah adds up to a big “bang for the buck” experience. Black-cherry, dark-chocolate and orange aromas are flanked by wee bits of well-worn leather and roasted red bell pepper. The wine has grippy tannins and soft acidity to match up with gobs of blackcap-raspberry and blueberry flavors. Little touches of cedar and mocha powder add interest. (Michael Alberty)
WS8888 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/22
Dark and woolly with black-cherry and tobacco flavors and modest wood notes, this is generous and complex for its price.

A focused cabernet with dark chocolate, blackberries, walnuts, dried herbs, violets and iodine on the nose. It’s medium- to full-bodied with sleek, fine-grained tannins and a savory, mineral edge. Balanced and linear. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)

RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 11th May 2023
The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve bursts with an impressive nose and was made with the addition of 10% Petit Verdot and 3% Merlot. There are healthy and seductive aromas on the nose along with succulent black plum, spiced cherry compote and blackberry skin before elegant brown baking spices lift out of the glass with resinous red and purple flowers. Full-bodied, big and juicy, with plenty of oak, the palate offers a fine mineral tension, harmoniously balanced fine-grained tannins and succulent acidity. The wine continues to somersault and uncoil across the bold, long-lingering and generous finish that leaves behind a firm tannic edge. Give this at least two more years in the bottle before opening, but I suspect it will be better with three. Bravo! (Anthony Mueller)

Notes of plums and blueberries with violets, lilac and dark chocolate. Juicy and fruit-forward with crunchy tannins and a vivid, blue-fruited finish. Hints of spices and cocoa to close. Drink now. (James Suckling)

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon might be the best of the trio, with sweet darker fruits, medium body, ripe tannins, and a good finish. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Tightly focused and loaded with tension, this red offers handsome flavors of blackberry, tobacco and spices that build toward broad-shouldered tannins. Best from 2025 through 2031. 490 cases made. (Tim Fish)

JS9090 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, May 24, 2023
Aromas of sliced apples, lemon pith, crushed sage, raw almonds and stones. Medium-bodied, creamy and mild with crisp acidity and a crunchy stone-fruit texture. Flavorful finish. Drink now. (James Suckling)
WE8787 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2022
This hedonistic treat is a well-executed take on the buttery-creamy style of Chardonnay. The wine features coconut and warm apple-pie aromas, with a splash of rose water on the nose. Flavors such as lemon butter, spicy cinnamon and caramel apple fill every nook and cranny of the olfactory system. (Michael Alberty)
