Enticing, with the frankly ripe profile of the vintage showing off in a display of slightly exotic plum and blackberry coulis flavors, while dark licorice, menthol and sassafras notes course through. Sweet spice accents sparkle through the finish, revealing a lingering hint of singed juniper. The long finish features rippling acidity. Best from 2022 through 2038. 2,300 cases made.

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is very deep purple-black in color with a crushed plums, blackberries and black cherries nose with hints of dried herbs and smoked meats plus menthol and chocolate box notes. The full-bodied palate is rich, finely textured and fresh, with great purity and length. 400 cases were produced.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is fabulous. Rich, deep and explosive in the glass, the 2015 exudes richness in every dimension. A rush of raspberry jam, blueberry jam, spice, menthol and new leather build as this striking Cabernet Sauvignon shows off its pedigree and pure class. The 2015 packs a real punch and yet remains racy and supple, not to mention absolutely irresistible. Wow!

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon from Stone the Crows is beautifully polished and nuanced. Bright red cherry, pomegranate, kirsch, mint and wild flowers all develop with air, but it is the wine’s textural feel that stands out most. Silky tannins add to the wine’s considerable finesse. This is one of the more restrained 2015s readers will come across. I would prefer to give the 2015 at least a few years to allow the tannins to soften. Even at this early stage, though, the 2015 is compelling. This is a superb showing from proprietor Rick Talmadge and winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown.
RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Dec 2017
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Three Twins Vineyard is very deep inky purple in color and possesses a gorgeous blackcurrant cordial, blueberry tart and plum preserves nose, with touches of sandalwood, dried herbs, lavender and menthol plus a waft of cardamom. Full, concentrated, very pure, rich and vibrant, with velvety tannins and just enough freshness, it finishes long.

Larkmead Dr. Olmo | Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 / 750 ml.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Olmo has really come together since I last tasted it from barrel. Graphite, smoke, crushed rocks, spice and rose petal overtones give the 2015 Dr. Olmo its distinctive aromatic signatures. The 2015 finishes with remarkable tension and energy. What a gorgeous wine it is.
JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - December 29, 2017
Of the three top Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Olmo is the most classic expression of Cabernet and offers Pauillac-like notes of black cherry, cassis, lead pencil shavings, espresso roast, and gravelly minerality. It’s full-bodied, concentrated, and structured, and will benefit from 4–5 years of bottle age and shine for 20–25 years or more. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Still showing brilliantly (and I don’t expect that to change), the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has the ripe, expansive, sexy style of the vintage front and center. Loads of crème de cassis, blueberries, crushed violets, and spice all soar from this beauty, which is powerful and rich, yet perfectly balanced. At the same quality level as the 2013, it’s nevertheless in a much more approachable, flamboyant style. Drink it any time over the coming two decades or more. It’s a gorgeous, gorgeous wine. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2018
Staglin’s 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is ripe, racy and voluptuous, which is to say very much in line with the style of the year. Kirsch, succulent red cherry, mint and spice add layers of nuance, but in this vintage it is the wine’s raciness and sweet, silky tannins that give the wine its forward, open-knit personality. Ripeness is pushed to the edge in the 2015, and yet all the elements flow together effortlessly. Even with all of its obvious ripeness an raciness, this is decidedly a mid-weight style of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
RP94+94–96 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2017
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon has a decadent nose of warm blackcurrants, blackberry preserves and ripe black plums plus suggestions of chocolate box, baking spices, fertile loam and dried Mediterranean herbs. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with expressive black fruits and savory nuances. With a solid structure of chewy tannins and balanced freshness, it finishes long and earthy. This was tasted as a barrel sample.
SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2018
Pure, rich, deep and balanced, well-centered on plush blackberry, wild berry, currant, black licorice, light oak and dusty earth flavors. Lets the fruit shine through, with oak in the background. Best from 2020 through 2024. 1,550 cases made.
JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, November 19, 2018
This shows plenty of dark plums and spiced dark chocolate. Hints of orange skin and cloves, too. So deep and intense on the palate. Full body, round and velvety tannins and a powerful and bright finish. Drink or hold.

A blend of 88.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4.4% Petit Verdot, 4.2% Cabernet Franc and 3.2% Merlot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Sycamore Vineyards comes skipping out of the glass with a spring it its step and singing notes of crushed blackcurrants, fresh blackberries and red and black plums with touches of underbrush, fungi, wild sage, chocolate mint and cigar boxes. Full-bodied and built like a brick house, it has a rock-solid frame of firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness supporting the generous, crunchy fruit, finishing long with a touch of minerality. 2,101 cases produced.

RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha’s Vineyard barely hints at eucalyptus on the nose, with much more emphasis given to black cherries and cassis. This is full-bodied and rich, nicely balancing richness and texture against linear shape and focus and picking up hints of blueberries and spice on the long, mouthwatering finish. With 112 barrels having been bottled, there’s a fair bit of this wine to go around, if one can afford it. (Joe Czerwinski)
SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2021
This throws off an overt and alluring mint aroma, while sweet bay leaf, violet, damson plum, red tea and steeped griotte notes all glide through together, carried by remarkably fine-grained tannins. Ends with a gentle echo of mint on the finish, while a subtle minerality chimes through as well. A stylish and suave wine, with plenty of charm now, but also pristine balance for cellaring. Best from 2022 through 2038. 2,500 cases made. (James Molesworth)

A pure, balanced and fresh Napa cabernet that is not just showing heady concentration and dark fruit. Here you get some violets, nimble flowers, redcurrants, graphite and fine spices. Some oranges, too. Fragrant and nuanced. Medium to full body with tight yet refined tannins. Rather linear, tense and elegant, but lacking neither power nor definition. Better to give it a few years to deliver more complexity. (James Suckling)
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2022
Deep black-currant and blackberry flavors come with a warm, rounded texture bolstered by fine-grained tannins in this concentrated and mouth-filling wine. Hints of mint and dark chocolate enhance the aroma and continue through the finish. Best 2025–2035. (Jim Gordon)
JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 2/16/2023
Lots of ripe blue fruits, sappy herbs, and some background minerality as well as a touch of oak emerge from the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, a medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, elegant Cabernet from this estate that’s drinkable today yet will evolve for 15–20 years in cold cellars. It’s one for the old school Cabernet lovers out there. (Jeb Dunnuck)
