L'Ecole No. 41 Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 / 750 ml.

Item#: 58731

VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2023
Dark masses of black raspberries, currants, crushed ashen stone and hints of dusty spice box waft up from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley. It’s supremely elegant, with vibrant acids, enlivening the tart wild berry fruits within. This tapers off structured with grippy tannins, and a core of primary concentration that will promise a long and steady elevation. (Eric Guido)
JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 7/9/2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a mix of seven different vineyards and it’s always a good value. Its deep purple color is followed by a ripe, opulent, full-bodied Cabernet with lots of plum and darker berry fruits, notes of chocolate, roasted herbs, and oak, ripe yet mouthcoating tannins, and a great finish. While it doesn’t have the elegance of the top cuvées, it brings ample fruit and texture, and should keep for 10–12 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Sweet spring flowers, lemon-laced apples and confectionary spice introduce the 2022 Sémillon. A model of grace and purity, this is perfumed and slightly exotic, with suggestions of mint that offset green melon notes and ample juicy acidity that keeps the energy high. The 2022 tapers off with cheek-puckering freshness and a saline tinge that perfectly resets the palate. I’m loving the balance of ripeness and tension here. This is a blend of 82% Sémillon and 18% Sauvignon Blanc. (Eric Guido)

Precisely structured, rich yet elegantly firm, this red is generous, with blackberry, dried sage and olive flavors that finish with broad-shouldered tannins. Drink now through 2030. 11,864 cases made. (Tim Fish)

I loved the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain, which is loaded with sweet red and black currant fruit as well as some classic Cabernet spice, tobacco, leather, and loamy earth notes. This medium-bodied, nicely balanced, concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon has enough concentration and structure to evolve for a solid decade. (Jeb Dunnuck)

RP9999 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2022
Flirting with triple digits, and perhaps the best Sorella yet, the 2019 Sorella explodes from the glass with a fantastic mineral essence that sways between dark red fruit tones, oak essence and freshly opened flowers. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is impeccably balanced with a silky-smooth mid-palate that bestows a stunningly beautiful wine with gobs of complexity and a ripe frame of glossy black raspberry and blackberry fruit tones. Unwinding across the finish, the wine unpacks gorgeous layers that seduce me for a second, third and fourth sip and finally begs me to finish the glass. Buy this ASAP! (Anthony Mueller)
JD9797 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 7/9/2022
The flagship from this talented team is the 2019 Sorella, which is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, all from the Champoux Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Deep purple-hued, with a great nose of cassis, blackcurrants, tobacco leaf and lead pencil, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, silky, polished tannins, and terrific overall balance. It shows the pure, elegant, seamless style of the vintage and will benefit from 3–4 years of bottle age and evolve nicely for at least two decades. This is pure class. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2024
The 2019 Sorella is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petite Verdot. It’s dark and brooding in the glass, displaying a burst of ashen stone and grilled herbs that gives way to black currant and exotic spice. Round and supple on the palate, this shows cooling acidity and a great depth of rich red and black fruits, contrasted by a saline mineral tinge. It tapers off with a peppery edge and a violet pastille flourish, leaving silty tannins and hints of licorice while finishing with outstanding length. The 2019 is still youthful and tense, yet it promises over a decade of positive evolution. (Eric Guido)
