Ripe currants, plums and suede on the nose. Full-bodied with chewy, fruit soaked tannins. The palate is driven by fresh acidity that carries the dark fruit through the long, satisfying finish. Rich yet toned and focused.Tobacco and melted chocolate. Intense. 89% cabernet sauvignon, 8% petit verdot and 3% cabernet franc. Best after 2026.
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2022
Broad-shouldered and intense in structure, with handsome blackberry, black tea, clove and other spices. Builds tension toward firm tannins. Built for the cellar. Best from 2023 through 2030. 2,941 cases made.

A zesty, toasty red, with medium-bodied currant and black cherry flavors accented by espresso and spices. Ends with snappy tannins. Drink now through 2028. 145,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)

Aromas of rose petal, dried herb, chocolate and cherry lead to pleasing dark-fruit and chocolate flavors that paint around the edges, considerably lighter in the middle. What’s there impresses and delivers a lot of value. (Sean P. Sullivan)

Doubleback Estate Reserve 2019 / 750 ml.

2019 / 750 ml.

Item #: 56823

VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2022
The 2019 Estate Reserve is an intense blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon with 25% Petit Verdot and 3% Merlot, crafted by the talented Josh McDaniels. Needing a two-hour decant to be fully expressive, it reveals deep tar tones on the nose, alongside shades of blackberry cordial and crème de violette. Full-bodied and well-structured, with serious weight and finesse, it’s already showing well following some air. Enjoy this beauty over the next 20 years.
VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2023
The 2019 Estate Reserve bursts from the glass with wild floral and exotic citrus tones offset by sweet smoke and mentholated herbs. Further swirling brings forward deeper undertones of black cherry and cocoa. This boasts velvety textures perfectly contrasted by tart wild berry fruits and citrus-tinged acidity that creates a sensation of boundless energy within, as silky tannins slowly mount toward the close. The 2019 tapers off with youthful tension and structured. Notes of sour cherry and inner tobacco tones slowly fade. This is going to need an extended stay in the cellar to come fully into balance, but it will be worth waiting for. (Eric Guido)

Currants, flowers and walnuts on the nose. Medium-bodied with a pretty core of fruit and fine tannins and a crisp finish. Lead pencil. Fresh. Compact. Delicate and delicious. Enjoy. Drink or hold.
JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/6/2021
Juicy blue fruits, leafy tobacco, violets, and orange blossom notes all emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Cs and it’s medium to full-bodied, has a beautifully balanced, fruit-forward style, no hard edges, and a great finish. It’s no simple fruit bomb and has notable structure, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. It reminds me of a top Cru Bourgeois from Bordeaux and represents a stunning value. Drink it over the coming 7–8 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
