JD94+94+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/6/2021 The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series is a gem and well worth seeking out. Based on 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Syrah, brought up in 28% new oak, it offers an outstanding nose of blackcurrants, toasted spice, chocolate, and bouquet garni. Concentrated, firm and structured, with medium to full-bodied richness, it’s another age-worthy wine in the lineup that needs to be forgotten for 3–5 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2020 Bright ruby-red. Pure, youthfully medicinal scents of cassis, boysenberry, blueberry, licorice, menthol, bitter chocolate and pungent herbs. Brisk, delineated, high-pitched and tightly wound, with classic medicinal Cabernet Sauvignon character in the early going. Dominant flavors of cassis, licorice, menthol and dark chocolate. I did not taste this bottle alongside its 2017 sibling, but the two wines strike me as quite similar in style and quality. This one is perhaps a bit sweeter and may open sooner but is still quite firm and tactile on the finish. (Stephen Tanzer)
JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, July 12, 2021 A fragrant nose of blackcurrants, pine, rosemary, incense and sandalwood. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, fine-grained tannins. Structured and polished with a fresh finish. Drink from 2022.
WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2022 This wine isn’t ready to reveal itself right now, with locked up aromas of chocolate, cocoa, cherry and spice. Coffee and cherry flavors follow. Give it some additional time in the cellar to blossom.

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/6/2021 My favorite in the lineup, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vines is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec, all aged 22 months in new barrels. Loads of ripe red and black fruits, dried herbs, crushed stone, and savory herb notes give way to a full-bodied, concentrated, yet beautifully balanced, weightless Cabernet that will benefit from 4–6 years in the cellar and keep for two decades or more. (Jeb Dunnuck)
WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2021 Dark chocolate, barrel spice, vanilla, cherry and licorice aromas are followed by luscious black fruit flavors. There’s plenty of richness, texture and seamlessness along with a whole lot of structure. A long finish caps it off. It’s all about hedonism, but still possesses impressive balance, a classically Woodward styled wine. The oak is forward at present. Give it some time in the cellar or decant. Best after 2024.
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, July 12, 2021 Blackcurrants, black cherries, charcoal, walnuts and cedar on the nose. It’s full-bodied with firm, ripe tannins. Concentrated and flavorful with a succulent core of dark, spiced fruit. Try from 2022.
VN91+91+ pts. - Vinous - Dec 2020 Bright, dark ruby-red. Brooding, almost inky scents of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, dark chocolate and minerals. Tightlyl wound but already seamless and fine-grained, with a high pitch to its flavors of dark berries, herbs, licorice and spicy oak. The impression of inner-mouth energy carries through to the firmly tannic, bright, lifted finish, which leaves the salivary glands quivering. Still quite dry and youthfully imploded, and in need of cellaring. This began a touch sweeter than the Artist Series #27 but turned more penetrating and less pliant with 24 hours in the recorked bottle.
JD97+97+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/6/2021 The flagship from this great estate is the 2018 Sorella, a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend (8% each of Cabernet Franc and Merlot and the 4% Petit Verdot) that spent the same 22 months in 35% new French oak. Gorgeous crème de cassis, tobacco leaf, lead pencil, and chocolate define the bouquet, and it’s medium to full-bodied, flawlessly balanced, and has a great, great finish. A classically styled, structured, age-worthy beauty, it will benefit from 4–5 years of bottle age and have 2–3 decades of overall longevity. Trust me, this will pass undetected in a blind lineup of top Bordeaux. (Jeb Dunnuck)
RP96+96+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2021 Set to be released in spring of 2023, the 2018 Sorella is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc with Petit Verdot filling in the remainder. Juicy, dusty and spicy aromas waft from the glass with succulent, floral notes that capture the nose. Spiced red cherries, potpourri and dusty black raspberry essences cartwheel with notions of lavender and rose hip before offering up delicate baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is initially subdued and grows in amplitude while offering a balanced structure with succulent tannins. The longer the wine sits on the palate, it increases in spiciness under the ripe, juicy dark red fruit tones. The Sorella continues to evolve in the mouth with persistence, lingering long, leaving behind flavors graphite, crème de cassis and black cherry skin. Just under 8,000 bottles were filled after the wine rested for 22 months in all French oak, 35% new. Set your calendar and put this on your shopping list for when it’s released. Bravo, another stunning vintage of Sorella on the books. (Anthony Mueller)
VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2023 The 2018 Sorella is youthly coy in the glass, with a darkly alluring blend of dusty dried flowers, cinnamon and clove nuances giving way to pretty hints of violet pastilles. There’s an abundance of energy within, as tart cherries and blackberries cascade across a core of zesty acidity, and sour citrus hints adding a lovely tension toward the close. A coating of fine tannins frames the finish, creating a truly classic feel, as the 2018 tapers off with a staining of primary concentration. (Eric Guido)
JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - April 15, 2020 Just bottled, the 100% varietal 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon has a juicy, fruit-forward, delicious style as well as notes of ripe black cherries, tobacco, and leafy herbs. With plenty of fruit, ripe tannins, and loads to love, drink it over the coming 5–7 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 10th Dec 2020 The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon opens to a core of red and black fruit on the nose, with a dusty floral essence. Medium-bodied, the straightforward expression offers a balanced structure and ends with a clean finish, leaving soft flavors of dried herbs and black cherry that linger in the mouth. Give it a try.
JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/6/2021 All Cabernet from a site on the Royal Slope, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Stoneridge Vineyard has a ruby/plum hue as well as complex, medium to full-bodied aromas and flavors of dried tobacco, baking chocolate, spice box, and tapenade. With beautiful red and black currant fruits, a plush, rounded texture, building tannins, and a great finish, it’s every bit as good as the 2015, 2016, and 2017. It’s another complex, layered, irresistible wine from this estate that will keep for a good decade. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, July 12, 2021 Plum, cherry, stewed strawberry, vanilla and toffee on the nose. Some moss and bark. It’s full-bodied with firm, tight-grained tannins. Juicy and polished with intense, spiced and dried-fruit aromas. Chewy finish. Drink or hold.
RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2022 The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Stoneridge Vineyard has a dark magenta core and aromas of dusty black cherry skin and black tea before elements of vanilla and sweet oak sway from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, the Cabernet is still tight with a firm tannic backbone before offering dark red fruit essences that lingers with a delightfully expressive, mineral-laced finish. Give it one more year in bottle and drink through 2028. Just over 4,900 bottles were produced. (Anthony Mueller)
JD97+97+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/6/2021 The 2018 Red Wine is another stunner from this talented team. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot aged 23 months in a mix of new and used barrels, it has an incredibly pure bouquet of both red and blue fruits as well as graphite, violets, and blood orange. Playing in the medium to full-bodied end of the spectrum, it stays tight and focused on the palate, with a beautiful mouthfeel, ripe yet firm, chalky tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great, great finish. It’s a gorgeous wine that will benefit from 3–5 years of bottle age and cruise for 15–20+ in cold cellars. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2022 The 2018 Red Wine Estate might just be the best edition ever of this incredible high-elevation bottling. It’s nothing short of a blending masterpiece by Chris Figgins and his winemaking team. This thing is massive monster of a wine that really needs several hours of air to get going. But once tamed, the aromatics explode out of the glass, unveiling dark currants, roasted figs, black rose petals and creosote tones with shades of green bell pepper from the Petit Verdot. The palate is soft and opulent in the mouth. Layers of crème de cassis, anise, violets, dark cherry cordial, graphite and espresso bean with green bell pepper undertones all brilliantly combine with a vibrant sense of tension, and firm tannins hold everything in place. While this is extraordinary to savor upon release, try your best to resist it for at least a few more years.
JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, July 12, 2021 Blackcurrant, blackberry, walnut and mint chocolate on the nose, as well as hints of radish and mocha. It’s full-bodied with firm, ripe tannins. Concentrated and chewy with a dense core of black fruit. Solid and tight. Cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and merlot. Give this time. Try from 2024.
WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2021 Aromas of macerated cherry, coffee, flower, licorice and date lead to cherry, cranberry and raspberry flavors that give a full impression on the palate. There’s plenty of precision and detail to be had, so much acidity and a quite firm tannic structure. A big, burly, beautiful wine, it will last and drink well as long as you care to keep it. Don’t go near it now. Best after 2032.
SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Feb 24, 2022 A dynamic and refined red, with detailed blackberry, green olive and spicy espresso flavors that build tension and polish on the long finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2030. 1,562 cases made. (Tim Fish)
RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 8th Jul 2021 Immediately impressive in the glass, the 2018 Estate Red Wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot with aromas of juicy and ripe blackberry, spiced black cherry preserves, elegant floral tones and elements of boysenberry and blueberry with a soft amount of volatility. Full-bodied, generous and full of flavor, the blend displays power and finesse, unpacking layers of complexity with a tight tannic grip that will loosen with additional bottle age. The wine somersaults to a spectacular finish with a firm, juicy and dusty sensation that gives pleasure at every turn. The wine rested for for 23 months in new and used French oak barrels. Just give it another few years in the bottle for the wine to shed its baby fat. Just under 19,000 bottles were filled. Impressive; Bravo!

JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, March 6, 2024 I like the savory nature of this dark-fruited cabernet. Black olives, dark plums, cocoa and graphite here, with a full-bodied yet fresh and classy palate. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2024 Art inspires in places where words often fail. This Cabernet Sauvignon paints a picture of blackberries and seared steaks that waltz with pipe tobacco, iodine and a hint of mint. The almost creamy texture is counterpointed by elevated acidity that injects a bit of liveliness. Palette meets palate here. (Michael Alberty)
VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2024 Masses of steeped plums and crushed black raspberries and a dusting of clove and exotic spice make the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series a total pleasure on the nose. This sweeps across the palate with ease, guided by zesty acidity and ripe wild berry fruits that slowly saturate. It tapers off with a spicy tinge, leaving an air of lavender and hints of salted licorice. Fine-grained tannins frame the experience nicely. (Eric Guido)
