Critical Acclaim

JD95 Jeb Dunnuck 11/3/2021

"A bigger, richer wine, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vieilles Vignes has a similar style in its peppery garrigue, lavender, scorched earth, and licorice aromatics. It’s slightly darker fruited than the base cuvée and has a rock star of a mid-palate, building, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It’s one stunning bottle of wine to drink over the coming 10–15 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)" (95 pts.)

JD93+ Jeb Dunnuck 10/6/2020

"A solid step up, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vieilles Vignes offers more of everything, with a deeper ruby/purple color, stunning notes of blackcurrants, black raspberries, toasted spices, and Provençal garrigue, medium to full-bodied richness, a beautifully layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. This is another sexy, seamless wine from this team that I would certainly be thrilled to have in the cellar. As with the base cuvée, 20–15 years of prime drinking are ahead of it." (93–95 pts.)

RP93+ Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 30th Oct 2020

"Intoxicating scents of ripe plums, dried spices and dark chocolate emerge on the nose of the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes, a rich, full-bodied effort that’s undeniably impressive as a pre-bottling sample. Dense and concentrated, it somehow manages to retain a sense of freshness, perhaps the influence of the long, anise-tinged finish." (93–95 pts.)

France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.
