99 West Pinot Noir 2021 / 750 ml.

Item#: 62798

VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2024
The 2021 Pinot Noir opens with woodland herbs and berries, joining cedar hints. This is round with cooling acidity and crisp red berry fruits giving way to violet inner florals. Long with a licorice tinge, this finishes with a pleasantly bitter edge, calling the taster back to the glass for more. (Eric Guido)

This is earthy, with notes of spice box and black licorice and a ripe berry fruit backbone. Medium-bodied, juicy and pretty straightforward, with crunchy acidity and a flavorful finish. Drink now. (James Suckling)

A bright cherry aroma is matched with notes of hay and aged balsamic vinegar. The wine’s tangy sweet-tart raspberry and peach flavors glide along a rich, full mouthfeel. Plush tannins, with modest acidity. Good value here. (Michael Alberty)

RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Aug 2023
I tasted the 2021 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley about a month after it was bottled, but it doesn’t seem to matter—it bursts from the glass with generous pomegranate, cranberry and raspberry preserves aromas and accents of orange peel, aniseed and tea leaves. The palate is stunning: it strikes a balance between highly concentrated, nuanced fruit and an uplifted, silky structure, and it has a particularly elegant finish. (Erin Brooks)

Sleek, graceful and elegantly proportioned, with expressive violet, raspberry, guava and black tea flavors that jump out of the glass and gather richness toward polished tannins. Drink now through 2032. 3,780 cases made. (Tim Fish)

Wild and vibrant nose of rosemary, cherry stones, small strawberries, violets and seaweed. So fresh, with a medium body and powdery tannins. I like the persistent fine, chalky texture. Unfined and unfiltered. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 9/17/2023
Deep ruby with a purple tinge, the 2021 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley is generous and attractive, with a pure and spicy perfume of pressed flowers, wild raspberry preserve, and brambly herbs. Approachable and drinking well out of the gate, this medium to full-bodied red is ripe with juicy fruit, good structure, ripe tannins, and pithy texture, as well as a touch of warming spice on a long finish. It’s a solid appellation wine that casts a very large net for appeal. Drink 2024–2030. (Audrey Frick)

A smoky blend of wild herbs, ground ginger and crushed raspberries smolders up from the 2021 Pinot Noir Thea’s Selection. It’s softly textured with cooling minerality and pure red berry fruits underscored by saline minerals. Zesty acidity adds a liveliness through the finish as the 2021 tapers off long and spicy yet only lightly tannic. (Eric Guido)
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - May 31, 2024
Brisk and generous, with snappy cherry and pomegranate flavors highlighted by oolong tea and savory spices. Concludes with fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2031. 10,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)

A pronounced saline note similar to the lining of a freshly shucked oyster mixes with notes of blackberries and marshmallows toasted over a smoky campfire. Bracing acidity and velvety tannins frame flavors like raspberry, smoked almonds and candied rose petals. (Michael Alberty)

The 2021 Pinot Noir Estate lifts from the glass with a mentholated freshness, giving way to dried roses and strawberries. Silky and enveloping, it possesses a core of vividly ripe wild berries and sweet herbal tones that resonate over a tactile staining of saline minerals. Grippy tannins saturate through the long, spicy finish as repleting inner florals and bitter hints of licorice fade. (Eric Guido)
RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Jul 2024
The 2021 Pinot Noir Estate is blended from all five of Eyrie’s estate vineyards: the Eyrie, Sisters, Outcrop, Roland Green and Daphne. Cranberry, raspberry and strawberry aromas are accented by wafts of autumn leaves, earth and dried herbs. The light-bodied palate features concentrated berry, earth and spice layers. It’s framed by softly astringent tannins and vibrant acidity, and it has a long, nuanced finish. (Erin Brooks)
JD9393 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 9/17/2023
The medium ruby 2021 Pinot Noir Estate is fresh with aromas of wild strawberries, fresh roses, and beet root. Medium-bodied and elegant, it floats across the palate with fine tannins and a delicately earthy finish. It’s a killer value and a great snapshot of what Eyrie is all about. It is hands down one of the best entry level Pinot Noir with a clear vision of what you can expect further in the range. Drink 2023–2030. (Audrey Frick)

This shows notes of spiced herbs, dust and ground spices with vivid and juicy cherries and redcurrants. Despite being medium-bodied, it shows weight and structure with impressive concentration of blue-fruit in the middle, and crunchy acidity. Tannins are firm and crunchy with an attractive chocolaty finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)

RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 9th Mar 2023
Medium ruby, the 2021 Pinot Noir Le Pré du Col Vineyard has pretty scents of raspberry, cranberry, bergamot and mushroom, revealing more aromatic detail as it spends time in the glass. The light-bodied palate is chalky and refreshing with concentrated fruit and loads of botanical and floral accents on the long, layered finish. I love this fragrant, detailed expression! (Erin Brooks)
SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2023
Brooding, with an appealing earthy, forest floor accent to the blueberry and dusky spice flavors as this builds tension and density toward medium-grained tannins. Hands off for now. Best from 2024 through 2034. 950 cases made. (Tim Fish)
VN93+93+ pts. - Vinous - Jan 2024
The 2021 Pinot Noir Le Pré du Col is spicy and airy with a perfumed blend of dusty dried flowers, ground ginger and wild strawberries. This mixes savory and sweet with a cascade of violets and lavender over a stream of brisk acidity. It casts tangy red fruits across the palate, offset by a tinge of sour citrus. Only lightly tannic yet full of tension, Le Pré du Col finishes long and potent with an air of inner florals and hints of foreign spice. While its structural footprint doesn’t have as much impact, the 2021 should mature beautifully on its balance alone. (Eric Guido)
