From the Producer

A beautiful purple/red color leads to aromatics that showcase very ripe and concentrated aromatics of black fruits and bramble. Deep and dark in all aspects this vintage showcases more of the seductive aspect of this vineyard's magic. Raspberry and roasted herbs with a touch of cinnamon stick and sarsaparilla root with a hint of vanilla bean. Full bodied, but never heavy, this wine is as complex as it is fun to drink.

The 2015 Zinfandel El Diablo is best described as a field blend planted with numerous red and white varieties. Exotic and intense, with ripeness pushed to the edge, the Diablo possesses superb depth. Inky dark cherry, menthol, lavender and rose petal nuances add to the wine’s distinctive personality.

The 2015 Zinfandel Grist, from a rugged hillside site in Dry Creek, has plenty of character, but it also comes across as rustic and rough around the edges, especially in its tannin profile. There is no shortage of depth to the black cherry, plum and lavender flavors. It will be interesting to see if the winemaking team can coax a little more finesse from this site in future vintages.

Ridge Geyserville

2018 / 750 ml.

Item #: 51874

JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - May 21, 2020
A wine that always delivers, the 2018 Geyserville from Ridge comes all from a single vineyard in the Alexander Valley and checks in as 68% Zinfandel, 20% Carignane, 10% Petite Sirah, and the rest Alicante Bouschet. It has a big, cedary bouquet of red and black plums, sandalwood, potpourri, and Asian spices that develops and fills out nicely with time in the glass. This carries to a more medium-bodied Zinfandel that has wonderful purity of fruit, present yet ripe tannins, flawless balance, and a great, great finish. This structured yet ethereal example of this cuvée ranks with the finest vintages to date. Drink it any time over the coming 10–15 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Robust yet brooding, with multilayered black plum, licorice and Asian five-spice powder flavors that build richness toward big, briary tannins. Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. Best from 2022 through 2030. 10,500 cases made.
