Champagne Jean Laurent Blanc de Noirs Brut NV / 750 ml.

Item#: 19941

SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2012
Mouthwatering, this rich version layers flavors of black cherry, crystallized honey, toasted almond and grilled plum, with refined texture and racy acidity. Offers a long, creamy finish. Disgorged June 2012. Drink now through 2022. 6,500 cases made. (Alison Napjus)
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Oct 2012
Laurent’s NV Brut Blanc de Noirs wraps around the palate with rich, resonant fruit, honey, almonds, dried flowers and spices. Hints of ash, smoke and licorice develop in the glass, adding further complexity. Based on the wine’s complexity, I would not be surprised if there is a fair amount of reserve wine in this release. Disgorgement date: June 2012. Anticipated maturity: 2012–2016.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2023
This has an angular quality to the integration of firm acidity, the lively bead and the flavors of damson plum, salted almond and grated ginger. The smoky underpinning lingers on the finish. Enjoy this with food, grilled shellfish or other seafood. Disgorged December 2021. Drink now. 4,930 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2013
There’s a seashell-like minerality to the scent of this wine, and a cool, dark cavern feel to its flavors. It’s tight and dry, with fleshy lemon citrus notes firming up the finish. This is 100 percent pinot noir, selected and blended from three vintages. Serve it with poached salmon for brunch.

Where It's From

Region / Champagne

Bring on the bubbly! Perhaps no other wine region in the world has the name recognition of Champagne, to the point where people often mistakenly use the word "Champagne" to describe any sparkling wine. Yet only wines produced within the region can legally be called "Champagne," and to this day it produces some of the finest sparkling wines known to earth.

Country / France

View more wines from France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.

A bold and generous champagne for Brut Nature, the bone-dry finish mellowed by the ripe-apricot character, plus hints of toast and melted butter. Not super-elegant, perhaps, but gives a lot of pleasure and has entirely its own style. 100% pinot noir. Drink now. (James Suckling)
RP92+92+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Apr 2021
Clouet’s NV Silver Brut Nature Grand Cru is a pure Bouzy Pinot Noir that was disgorged without any dosage. This disgorgement displays a medium intense golden color and a complex and refined bouquet of ripe and pureed apples and discreet chalky as well as brioche aromas. The palate is elegant, straight and fresh, very pure and salty on the finish. This is a challenging Brut Nature that needs to be aged for two or three years to gain complexity and finesse and to smooth its current edges. The finish is mineral, limestone and salty but also a bit drying at this moment. (Stephan Reinhardt)

A vivacious Champagne, this shows flavors of black cherry, toast point, white peach puree and salted almond set on a finely detailed mousse. Creamy and mouthwatering on the spiced finish. Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Drink now. 58,000 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2015
The quality of this nonvintage wine from Piper-Hedsieck is a sign of the increasing quality of the range as a whole. It’s a wine that hovers comfortably between freshness and maturity, between a soft dosage and crisp fresh apples. This bottling is ready to drink.
ST8888 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Nov/Dec 2005
Medium straw. Light gold, with a strong mousse. Smoky, rich and floral on the nose, with suggestions of orange peel, pear and jasmine. Nicely concentrated and moderately weighty, with flavors of lemon cream and buttered toast. Quite long, with the butter and lemon notes resonating.
RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Dec 2008
Ripe pears, crisp green apples and flowers emerge from Piper-Heidsieck’s NV Brut Cuvée. This medium-bodied non-vintage Champagne offers excellent persistence and a long, clean finish. It is a very solid effort at this level. The Brut Cuvée is 55% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier and 15% Chardonnay. This is lot L070921 12253, disgorged December, 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2008–2010.
WS8686 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2006
Simple, ripe and smooth, this is a gentle, soft style of Champagne for parties.

Champagne Aubry Brut NV / 750 ml.

NV / 750 ml.

Item #: 20209

VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2017
The NV Brut is a gorgeous entry-level offering. The flavors are brisk and finely cut in this chiseled, crystalline Champagne from the Aubry brothers. Pear, green apple, lemon oil and white flowers add to an overall impression of brightness and tension. Aubry’s straight NV Brut is once again one of the very finest wines in its peer group. I rarely miss a chance to drink it. The current release is a blend of 50% 2014 and 50% reserve wines, with a bit more Meunier in the blend than is the norm. Disgorged: June 2017. Dosage is 6 grams per liter.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2017
A firm, clean-cut Champagne, with a satinlike mousse that carries finely meshed notes of apple blossom, anise, poached pear and fleur de sel. A hint of almond shows on the finish. Disgorged January 2016. Drink now through 2019. 1,200 cases imported.
ST8888 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Nov/Dec 2005
Very pale copper. Smoky, nutty and deep on the nose, with scents of ripe apple, toffee and tarragon. Deep, earthy and rich (this features 60% meunier and 20% pinot noir) but lively on the palate, the apple and sweet toffee notes repeating. Long, full and nicely hefty on the finish.
WS8888 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2007
Scents of hazelnuts and almonds carry the toasty savor of this wine, knit into a broad richness that feels sweet in the middle, dry in the end. It’s soft and simple. For nut-crusted salmon.

Hints of ripe peach, passion fruit and juicy acidity are carried on a tightly knit, satiny mousse in this firm rosé, layered with spiced plum, dried cherry, smoke and star anise notes. Try this with charcuterie. Drink now through 2018.
SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2012
A smoky, fresh rosé, lightly chalky in texture, showing delicate flavors of crème de cassis, gumdrop, grilled plum and ground spice. Minerally finish. Drink now through 2018. (Alison Napjus)
SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2020
Fresh and balanced, with a pretty range of wild strawberry, orange blossom, whole-grain toast and ground ginger flavors riding the silky mousse. Drink now through 2023.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2022
A lacy rosé Champagne backed by bright acidity, this offers notes of strawberry preserves, pastry cream, toasted brioche, orange blossoms and smoke set on a fine, zesty bead. Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Drink now. (Alison Napjus)
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2009
A light, copper-colored rosé, this basks in light, sweet red fruit and flowers. It’s soft, but keeps its sweetness in check, ending with cedary finesse. For seafood sausage.
WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/15/2003
At first blush, the bouquet is rich and impenetrable, but when it opens citrus comes on strong. Chewy apple fruit with some Pinot heft define the palate, while licorice and anise add character to the finish. Plump, round and a pleasure to drink. Very substantive.

VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2018
The NV Brut Sainte Anne is a gorgeous wine, as it so often is. Pliant and inviting, with superb textural richness, the Sainte Anne shows Alexandre Chartogne’s style off to great effect. Dried pear, chamomile, mint mad dried flowers are some of the many notes that run through this super-expressive Champagne. This release is a 50/50 blend of 2015 and reserve wines, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, also in equal measure. Disgorged: December 2017.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2016
Buoyant acidity and a lively bead carry pretty notes of ripe Honeycrisp apple, lemon zest, pickled ginger and slivered almond in this balanced Champagne, in an aperitif style. Disgorged February 2016. Drink now through 2019. 1,200 cases imported.
WS8989 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2008
Between the sweetness of the fruit and the steely acidity there’s density in the middle of this wine. It tastes chalky and real. For bulots and other fruits de mer.
ST8989 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Nov/Dec 2005
Light gold color. Fresh aromas of orange blossom, acacia and honeysuckle, with a suggestion of grilled nuts. Round and supple, with deep, almost sweet flavors of mango, apricot and yellow plum. Frothy and suave, with ripe orchard fruit flavors and notes of pear and apple. The delicate, almost weightless finish is subtle, fine and long.

A blend of four vintages, this fine, mineral-driven Champagne has a taut character. The beginnings of softness are discernible as the bottling ages. It’s likely to be a delicious wine, from 2023. (Roger Voss)
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 15, 2014
A lithe Champagne, bright and lively on the palate, with a delicate array of poached quince, lemon pound cake, chopped almond, spun honey and ground spice flavors. Expressive, without excessive weight. Disgorged December 2013. Drink now through 2019. 2,500 cases made.
ST9090 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Nov/Dec 2013
(disgorged March, 2013): Light yellow. Spicy orange pith and pear aromas are complicated by hints of toasty lees, sweet butter and ginger. Racy citrus and orchard fruit flavors gain flesh and weight with air, picking up deeper melon and nectarine qualities. A floral note gains strength with air and carries through a long, gently chewy finish, which echoes the pear note.
RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Nov 2013
Jean Laurent’s NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Disg. 3/2013 leads with a greenhouse-like sense of flowering and leafing things along with toast, lemon zest, and a whiff of outright yeastiness. Generously apple-y and lemony on a polished palate and with a discreet note of perfectly supportive sweetness, this finishes with toast-, salt, bitter herb- and apple pip-tinged fruit juiciness, bound to give pleasure over at least the coming year.

RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Jun 2016
The NV Cuvée Rosé Brut is 100% Pinot Noir based on 2008 (90%). The color is an intense orange-colored pink and the nose offers beautifully subtle, but also deep, intense flavors of ripe and macerated Pinot Noir and lemon. There is also great purity and finesse on the structured palate. The finish is fresh and reveals a perfect fruit. This Rosé drinks almost like a light red wine.
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2013
A vinous style, featuring forward fruit notes of black cherry coulis and crème de cassis, with a firm framework and juicy acidity backing toasted raisin bread, almond skin and grilled plum flavors. The spicy finish persists. Drink now through 2018. 830 cases made.
SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2014
A deep-hued rosé, almost garnet in color, with a fine bead and tangy acidity backing the flavors of candied black cherry, whole-grain bread, star anise, smoke and honey. Offers a well-cut, chalky finish. Disgorged December 2013. Drink now through 2019. 415 cases made.
