Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut Champagne NV / 1.5 L.

Item#: 37323

SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2018
A well-cut and lacy Champagne in an elegant, aperitif style, with hints of chalk and graphite underscoring the lively Honeycrisp apple, cherry and lemon curd flavors. Offers a sleek, minerally finish. Drink now through 2021.
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2001
Red fruit character comes forward in the aroma and initial flavors, enriching the taste and filling out the smoky complexity. There’s a sweetness to that fruit balanced by a chalkiness, completely Champagne. Yellow Label is refined, super non-vintage Brut.
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2006
A full-bodied Champagne, this has been enriched by reserve wines to add depth and smoky lees intensity to its brisk, youthful elements. It’s a satisfying Brut to serve with poached prawns.
WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2013
One of the most familiar of Champagnes, the Yellow Label is finely made — a fruity while structured wine. It has both fresh and fragrant fruit as well as richness, a soft, creamy texture and bright acidity. There is no sense in bottle aging here — drink this wine because of its crispness.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2022
A firm, fresh version, with the lively bead carrying flavors of white cherry, grilled nut, orange curd and smoke. Creamy finish. Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Drink now. (Alison Napjus)
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 1997
The quality of this non-vintage blend is impressive, from it integrated Champagne scent to its creamy texture that carries aromas and flavors of green apples, white flowers, and fine minerality. It all comes together in the finish, where the opulent, pillowy texture meets the crispness of the mousse and light acidity.
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2007
Pale in color, with a strong influence of red fruit in the aromas, this is blended trio a rich style. The texture is plush, the fruit sweet yet balanced by a robust architecture so it finishes clean. A generous wine for aperitifs or to serve with roast fish.
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2011
There’s a tight, floral raspberry essence at the center of this wine, its fruitiness held by brisk, flinty acidity that keeps the finish mouthwatering. A firm wine for poached salmon.
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2004
Cliquot’s Yellow Label is consistently one of the best non-vintage Bruts from the major houses in Champagne. The current release bristles with fresh apple flavor, with the scent of heirloom apples off the tree. That flavor runs straight through the wine, savory and clean, with a firmness for boudin blanc with roast apples.
WS8888 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2005
Founded by Francois Clicquot in 1772, Veuve Clicquot reached its first pinnacle of fame with the widow Nicole-Barbe Clicquot, who scouted out some impressive vineyard sites during the 19th century. Jacques Peters, who is now in charge of the estate, crafts one of Champagne’s best nonvintage Bruts by enriching the Yellow Label with up to 40 percent of older wines from the firm’s reserve stock. Nutty scents of yeast develop into chalkier mineral flavors as the wine opens with air. It has a fresh scent of narcissus to balance the more mature tones of its reserve wines. It’s rich enough for food, but also easy to enjoy on its own.
RP8787 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Dec 2008
The NV Brut offers up attractive notes of smoke, tar, rich ripe pears and flowers in a medium to full-bodied style. There is a good measure of persistence, although the wine could use a little more polish on the finish. This is Lot 14009913, disgorged between December, 2007 and January, 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2008–2010.
ST8787 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Nov/Dec 2011
Bright yellow-gold. Poached pear and candied citrus fruits on the nose, which shows notes of spun sugar and toffee. Sweet orchard and pit fruit flavors are slightly cloying and loose-knit, with slow-mounting spiciness. Finishes on a warm note, with decent length and a suggestion of candied orange.

Where It's From

Region / Champagne

View more wines from Champagne

Bring on the bubbly! Perhaps no other wine region in the world has the name recognition of Champagne, to the point where people often mistakenly use the word "Champagne" to describe any sparkling wine. Yet only wines produced within the region can legally be called "Champagne," and to this day it produces some of the finest sparkling wines known to earth.

Country / France

View more wines from France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.

A classy rosé that glides across the palate, with flavors of raspberry coulis, yellow peach, chamomile and blanched almond that expand on the creamy mousse and linger on the lightly spiced finish, powered by mouthwatering acidity. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2026.
SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2022
A gorgeous rosé in a rich, vinous style, this shows a satiny mousse and well-honed acidity, which buoy a detailed range of macerated raspberry fruit, dried apricot, grated ginger, graphite and chopped roasted almond flavors. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2025. (Alison Napjus)
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2018
This lovely rosé Champagne is harmonious and bright, featuring sleek acidity layered with the lacy mousse and an expressive range of white peach, ripe raspberry and pickled ginger flavors, with hints of smoke and biscuit. Elegant. Drink now through 2023.
WS9393 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2013
This deep pink rosé starts off from a delicate scent of spice and roses, strawberries and the freshly turned earth of a garden. It grows more powerful and grand with air, building fresh raspberry pinot vinosity, a fragrant essence of limestone and fruit that lasts.
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2020
In the generous style that is Ruinart, the wine is full with red fruits that are mouthfilling and rich. At the same time, there is a crisp streak of mineral texture that cuts through the wine to give a bright aftertaste. Drink this beautifully balanced Champagne now.
WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 6/1/2017
This soft, finely structured and salmon-hued wine has an explosive mousse. Its attractive strawberry fruit is balanced by rich acidity. Ripe, mouth-filling and softly creamy, it’s ready to drink now and has a rounded aftertaste.
RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Dec 2008
The NV Brut Rosé is made in a similarly elegant and refined style, even though it isn’t quite as expressive as the Blanc de Blancs at the outset. With time in the glass the Pinot qualities come through with greater focus. The NV Rosé offers excellent length and a polished personality in the signature Ruinart style. This is Lot: LAD7ZCA, disgorged July, 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2008–2011.

SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 15, 2015
Flavors of poached pear, candied lemon zest and biscuit, with a rich hint of roasted almond, ride the lively bead of this crisp, minerally Champagne. Drink now through 2018. 15,000 cases imported.
WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2007
This must be one of the most familiar nonvintage Champagnes, so it’s good to be able to report that it is much improved. The dosage has been lowered, and there is considerable freshness, crispness with apple and toast. It is full-bodied but well balanced.
WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2020
This most familiar of nonvintage Champagnes has been improving each year. While it retains enough dosage to be easily drinkable, its acidity and crisp texture allied to the citrus element make for a sophisticated, attractive wine. Drink this bottling now.
ST8888 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Nov/Dec 2006
Light gold. Buttered apple and pear aromas, with hints of anise and brioche. Medium in weight, with a silky texture and sweet orchard fruit flavors framed by gentle acidity. Broad and rich on the finish, with a lingering note of sweet butter.

An elegant version, fine and creamy in texture and backed by lively, orange peel acidity. A streak of smoke-tinged minerality underscores flavors of almond madeleine, poached pear, anise and preserved lemon. Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Drink now. (Alison Napjus)
SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2018
Bright and balanced, featuring a fine, lively bead, mouthwatering acidity and a lightly toasty profile of poached pear and black currant flavors, with rich hints of lemon curd and pastry cream. Drink now through 2020.
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2012
Tart red-fruit scents give this a vinous profile, fragrant with cranberry, root vegetables and ginger. It finishes clean, with cool limestone minerality. Cellar this for a year to let the flavors develop further.
WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2018
Well balanced, this Champagne, even with its enormous production, remains a benchmark and is always enjoyable. In this bottling, ripe white fruit is cut with citrus, with an edge of toastiness that gives complexity. Drink now.
RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Mar 2021
Based on the challenging 2017 vintage, the current release of Moët & Chandon’s NV Brut Imperial was disgorged with seven grams dosage (representing a reduction of around 50% in the last 20 years) and contains an unusually high proportion of reserve wines. Offering up aromas of pear, peach and citrus oil mingled with hints of fresh bread and white flowers, it’s medium to full-bodied, ample and pillowy, with racy acids and an enveloping core of fruit, complemented by a pinpoint mousse and concluding with a nicely defined finish. Impressively seamless, it’s a fine rendition of one of Champagne’s largest bottlings. (William Kelley)

SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2018
This mouthwatering rosé Champagne shows textural density, sitting like raw silk on the palate and offering flavors of dried white cherry, grapefruit granita and ground ginger, with a light and lingering toast note. Drink now.
SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2022
Minerally on the nose and lacy in texture on the palate, this layers tangy mandarin orange peel acidity with rich hints of toasted brioche and vanilla as well as flavors of wild strawberry, candied ginger and pastry cream. Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Drink now. (Alison Napjus)
WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2013
This is a beautiful, full rosé that is rich and shows a fine balance between acidity and fruitiness. This bottling is also mature with toastiness coming through, giving a softer, rounder character. There is weight, and great acidity on the finish.
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2013
A whimsical play on fruit and spice, this is delicate enough to hint at an orange blossom scent and meaty enough to serve with cured sausages. It bristles with acidity over red fruit, lasting on heady complexity.
RP8686 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Dec 2008
The NV Brut Rosé is a straightforward, accessible wine to enjoy over the next year or two. With a little additional refinement in the tannins, this bottling might merit a slightly higher score. WS9393 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/21
This is a powerful Rosé, built with the addition of 13 percent red wine (pinot noir from Bouzy) and 11 percent of the blend aged in oak foudres. It starts off youthfully intense, with a smoky black-tea edge to the tannins. The wine is structured and savory, freighted with limestone earthiness until it grows bright and racy with air. This is built to last.
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2020
An attractive pale rosé color heralds a crisp, dry style of Champagne, ripe and now mature. Along with the structure and minerality that give the wine its shape and further potential, there is a hint of the toastiness to come. Drink the wine now, or even better, wait until 2021.

A crowd-pleaser for its fine balance and integration, offering a mouthwatering mix of wild strawberry and peach fruit, biscuit and salted almond flavors. Hints of anise, pink grapefruit zest and honey show on the creamy finish. Disgorged January 2019. Drink now through 2027.

This graceful Champagne offers hints of smoke and toasted brioche that transition to patisserie apple and blackberry fruit, candied ginger and mandarin orange peel notes. Seamlessly knit and mouthwatering, with a minerally underpinning and a finely detailed, dotted bead. Lush and creamy on the vibrant, lasting finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2035.
