When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

Lively and easygoing, with crisp green apple and lime flavors that finish on a steely note. Drink now. 1,000,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)
WE8888 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 6/1/2017
Earthy and doughy aromas lead to subtle, crisp apple and bright lemon flavors in this very good, go-to wine that has lasting fine-beaded bubbles. It tastes dry and refreshing and feels crisp and lively on the palate.
SP8787 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2013
Lively and appealing, offering citrus and raspberry fruit, with spice and cinnamon accents. Drink now. 850,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)
WS8686 pts. - Wine & Spirits - April 1, 2014
Korbel’s latest release (made with chenin and colombard in addition to pinot noir and chardonnay) has a toasty breadth balanced by a green apple tang. It’s round and easy to drink.

Dry, appetizing and complex, this wine has intricate aromas of butter, almond and toast followed by mellow fruit flavors, lingering spices and a suave texture that seems to encourage the long finish. It’s light- to medium-bodied and excellent in overall quality.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 2019
Vibrant and steely, with lemon, apple, creamy and toasted spice flavors, leading to a spirited finish. Drink now. 20,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2009
This is a pale, dry sparkling wine with a robust pinot noir scent. The yeastiness leaves an impression of smoky richness, with a stony mineral note. Delicious with wood-roasted oysters.
ST8787 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - May/Jun 2012
Light, bright gold. Green apple and quinine on the citrus-accented nose. Very dry and nervy on the palate, which offers taut lemon and orchard fruit flavors and a hint of bitter herbs. Slightly pinched on the finish but there's good focus and cut here. This bubbly has a low 2.95 pH, which no doubt contributes to its racy character.

Aromas of dried jasmine, bergamot cookie, and peach sorbet are attractive and follow through on a silky entry to a dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body with very good balance and acidity and a persistent, chalk, lemongrass, and white nut accented fade. A tasty crowd pleaser.
WE8585 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2013
The Pinot Grigio brings its usual green apple, lemon curd, peach and mineral flavors to this zesty sparkling wine. It straddles the delicate border between dry and off-dry, and is easy to drink with almost anything.

This value wine boasts an enticing toasted-oak aroma, spicy and beefy flavors that blend with good blackberry notes and a slightly gripping texture.
WE8585 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2013
Jammy flavors of blackberries, cherries and mocha make this taste almost of candied fruits. Despite how juicy it is, this wine finishes dry and firm in tannins.

What a delicious, easy-to-like bubbly. It’s definitely on the sweet side, but crisp in acidity, with raspberry jam, vanilla and buttered toast flavors. It will pair nicely with ham sandwiches, fried chicken, fresh fruit.
