Item#: 58709

RP90+90–92 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 20th Jan 2022
Notes of pear, waxy yellow orchard fruit, nutmeg and freshly baked bread introduce the 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières, a delicate, medium-bodied white that’s bright, fine-boned and saline in this warm vintage. (William Kelley)
VN90+90–92 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2021
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has a nicely detailed bouquet with fine delineation, orange pith and light linen scents developing with time. The palate is well balanced with tangy orange zest on the entry, quite linear and strict with a fresh finish, though it does not quite possess the mineralité of the Combettes. (Neal Martin)

View more wines from France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.

RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 21st Jul 2022
Unwinding in the glass with scents of citrus oil, oyster shell, fresh pastry and light reduction, the 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Vosgros is medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with a racy spine of acidity and a long, mineral finish. This is another impeccably balanced, precise wine from Didier Picq. (William Kelley)
VN91+91–93 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2021
The 2020 Chablis Vosgros 1er Cru has a tensile, steely nose, backward at first, then revealing touches of yellow flower and damp earthy scents with time. The palate is well balanced with a very saline entry, strict and linear in keeping with Picq’s style, and displays fine depth and a tang of bitter lemon and blood orange on the finish. Excellent. The 2020 Givry Blanc Cuvée Amélie has a pretty nose, touches of grilled walnut, quite Meursault-like in style. The palate is well-balanced, rather powerful with good acidity. Maybe, just missing a little tension on the finish, yet I appreciate the length here. Worth seeking out. (Neal Martin)

The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Dessus Les Gollardes Blanc is lovely, wafting from the glass with scents of citrus zest, crisp green orchard fruit and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and precise, it’s vibrant and flavorful, concluding with a chalky finish. (William Kelley)

The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières exhibits scents of pear, toasted almonds and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, bright and chalky, it’s deep and concentrated, with a mouthwatering, delicately oak-inflected finish.
VN90+90–92 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2020
The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru, a majority of the vines under 20 years old, was picked on 10 September. It is well-defined on the nose with light orange rind and very subtle muscat-like aromas, tight and benefitting from modest aeration. The palate is well balanced with a lightly spiced opening. There is a fine bead of acidity here given the warmth of the growing season, hints of praline and almond shaving towards the composed finish.

RP90+90–92 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Jan 2019
The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières offers up notes of ripe citrus, apples and white flowers, followed by a medium-bodied, pure and attractively tensile palate. The vines here are still young and the wine doesn’t have the depth or concentration of the Combettes, but it’s an elegant middle-weight that should offer a broad drinking window.
VN89+89–91 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2019
The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has a very taut nose at first, only reluctantly unfurling to reveal green apple scents with touches of honeysuckle and linseed developing with time in the glass. The well-balanced palate is fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, perhaps just needing to manifest more terroir expression and mineralité on the finish.

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières was showing well, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, citrus oil, nutmeg and warm pastry, followed by a medium to full-bodied, racy and nicely defined palate that’s long and intense.
